ILoud MTM : Final solution to monitor Nord Piano and Stage
I tried 3 different solutions (the last one being a Roland KC-220) to get similarly good audio from near-field monitors than from my Sennheiser headphones. I also checked out Nord's own speakers in the showroom, and they sounded very good, however I couldn't imagine those huge red boxes on top of the piano in my living room.
I made this bet for the iLoud MTMs (a pair), and I am more than happy with them. Now I can hear an equally good sound when I am playing loud, than via the headphones, when I'm playing silently.
They are half the size of the Nord speakers and look much sleaker anyway, and they are equally good to monitor piano sounds as well and B3 organ or church organ or any synth sound from the Stage 3.
Although the iLouds are pricey, they worth it. Faithful to their name, they can also be pretty loud, but it was not a criteria in my case. But for rehearsal in a practice room I think it would do (rehearsing jazz, not hard rock). I can honestly recommend these monitors.
PS. I bought the consoles of the Nord speakers and worked on them to accomodate the iLouds).
