Xenyx 502 : An economic but effective mixer for in-ear personal monitoring and for home applications
Let's put it clear: this mixer isn't made to offer sound perfection and high-level clean signals. It's a cheap solutions, but even cheap solutions are useful sometimes.
The Xenyx 502 is quite versatile when used as a personal on-stage mixer for musicians of small bands / amateur projects or for home desktop setups.
It offers a good number of I/O possibilities and the CD/TAPE selector allows you to redirect a source to your headphones only. This can be useful, e.g. for clock tracks.
The noise level is usually low but please consider that some noise could appear when using some I/O combinations. The power is more than good for non-professional applications.
If you are planning to include this mixer in a professional PA setup you would maybe go for better and more expensive products, since audio engineers and service guys will probably start complaining about your mixer. But if you don't need sound perfection and you are searching a budget solution to mix-up things, I strongly reccomend the quality-price ratio of Behringer's products. And Xenyx 502 is no exception.
Please note: I am not saying that the sound quality is unacceptable for making music! The mixer does its job and it *IS* an audio mixer! Just be aware that this is not a professional solution but a serious and effective low budget device.
