Eris E4.5 : Solid set of first monitors

These are my first monitors. I'm very pleased with them. The sound is excellent, and I worked hard on positioning them right. The music I have had time to make has been coming out better and its nice to be able to hear what's going in. They are very convenient because they fit on my desk and only have one power plug.

In hindsight I'm very glad I got these and didn't splurge on KRK 6s or Yamaha 7s. Would have been double the price and I wouldn't have even been able to use them properly! I live in a house where I can't play a lot of loud music, so all of that extra speaker would have been a waste. 4.5 cones seems to be an excellent compromise in that regard. Particularly when the speakers themselves are of such quality.

I really like the controles on the back. They are simpl and easy to get your head around as a relative novice (or lower intermediate... take your pick) but robust and effective at taming the sound, setting up for the space, and teaching you a little bit.

I have them nearfield pointing at my ears in a fairly small room. I was initially worried about the bass response, but its good when I have them set up in this way. They are quite directional though so when I move far enough away there is a noticable difference.
