ST-62MN VW Vintage Series : Fun modding platform
I have been playing my ST-62 for over a year now. Out of the box I did not like how the neck felt. I have read and heard other comments to the same. The neck felt sticky and too fat. My first thing was to sand down the back of the neck and that helped, but I ended up buying a cheap neck from china and I prefer that with a satin finish and rosewood fretboard. I also ordered a mint green perl HSS pick guard and added a humbucker.
The biggest con was the neck, but for the price I wouldn't give the guitar a negative review. Buyer be ware you may have to do setup work. The original neck needed tweaking to remove buzzes.
The pros are that I want to learn how to work on a guitar and this is an inexpensive way to do that. I ended up with basically a parts caster and I am loving it more everyday. It looks cool hanging on the was with my sage green Player Series Strat and my Ocean Flame CST-24T P90. I love how the mint green pick guard and the rosewood fretboard look on this guitar.
I would recommend this guitar. The tone was good out of the box, I just wanted more options and so I made the mods.
