Nanoweb Light : Last For Ages

First tried a set of Elixirs about 8 moths ago. They are still on the guitar and going strong. These strings have amazing longevity. When first fitted, the wound strings don't sound quite as bright as uncoated strings but do sound good. They then continue to sound good with no discermible degradation whatsoever.

In spite of being regularly played, including some sweaty sessions during the summer, they seem to have the same tonal and harmonic balance as they did the day they were fitted. If anything, the plain strings are perhaps starting to degarde - I noticed two or three weeks ago that the 1st E string seems to have lost a bit of volume compared to the others. I'll probably buy some single plain strings with a view to replacing them as needed.

I'm told that the coating on the wound strings eventually starts to fray, and that's the signal that they need to be changed. 8 months in, and there is no sign of this so far. I'm starting to get curious about how long they will last.

The coating also results in a string that is more slinky and slippery than uncoated types. The fingers glide up and down more easily, and the squeaking sound of the finger tips on the windings is dramatically reduced.

Been playing for decades, and these are the best strings I've ever used. Good sound, great feel, last for months.
