Code 25 : Above expectations, high quality digital product

I use this amp for home practice and digital recording for 4 months now. I still like it very much. In short: works out of the box, almost every preset sounds good and it's very easy to make them sound great. Works on Linux out of the box through MIDI, a huge plus for me! The firmware update goes through MIDI, too from the browser, absolutely brilliant. The competition is far behind Marshall in this software respect.

The amp is extremely versatile. It can do clean, but it can metal very well, too. Usable without the phone app, just by dialing things in on the amplifier interface, but the phone app is great, too. Works well with the analogue potentiometers of the guitar, too. Eg. crank up the volume in drive and you get more distortion, the way it should be. The headphone setting is great. The music input is either via Bluetooth, jack or USB MIDI. All playback options work right away even on Linux. And it is loud. This is no ordinary HiFi-style 25 watt, as you'd expect.

The only, in my eyes absolutely minor negative point, hence I didn't deduct a star for this, is that on the latest Android the bluetooth paring was cumbersome. The phone paired with the amp straight away and played music through it, so the issue is not the playback. The issue was that the Marshall app didn't see the amp despite being paired with the phone already. The solution was to delete all the stored BT connections from the phone and then reconnect. Then the Marshall app managed to connect to the already paired BT device. The app is smooth once connected: settings, cloud backup, the works.

If you are used to simpler tech, then you've got some learning to do with the CODE. My bet is that you'll love it once you understand it well. But if you're the DSP nerd already, you'll appreciate the quality of this from day 1. I also own bela.io just to give an indication.

In summary this is a true Marshall amp, but at the same time a high quality digital product, worth every penny. I chose it instead of the MG series, there's no going back to those, no way, this amp is so much more fun. Take it out for a spin, you won't regret it.
