PRA D1 : Exceptional bang for the buck
I actually bought this mic about 1.5 years ago when I was short on cash but really needed a microphone to record some vocals for demos at home. I did not expect too much from it - boy, was I wrong!
The chassis is made completely out of (thick) metal, this thing is built like a tank! Nice weight and it has a really reassuring feel to it. The jack locks nicely with the XLR plug and there's basically no mechanical clearance. In my experience, it is not particularly vulnerable to feedback. I guess it is some kind of SM58 clone but I'm not sure.
Sound-wise, I am just as satisfied. It works great for my harsh and clean vocals, be it in my home studio or in the rehearsal space. I once recorded an entire drum kit with just this one mic (the rest of the band went directly into the interface) in order to create rehearsal demos, and it captured everything quite well.
I'll probably buy another one soon to permanently keep it in our rehearsal space. For just 20€, you simply can't go wrong with this mic!
