EF-X2 Tape Echo Black : A thing of beauty

A real, vintage inspired but new, tape machine is a dream come true. The unit has the distinctive sound of a space echo with a much lower (but still not completely unnoticeable) noise floor. The delay time on offer isn't the longest when compared to digital delays and feedback can be at times hard to control, especially when pushing the preamp, but this is a real tape unit so it has all the limitations of one, and the benefits: the repetitions are so organic and beautiful that is hard to find in anything else. Digital delays, modern emulations or cheaper analog delays can all perform at least equally well, if not better in many occasions, and they won't be substituted by this machine, but there is nothing quite like a real tape echo unit and its sound and if you can afford this unit, you should consider getting one, but note if you are after a Binson echorec tone this isn't it, but if you love the Echoplex or the Roland Space Echo you are at home! It's a thing of beauty!
