X AIR XR12 : Great for small performances
I bought this mixer for two reasons: firstly to work with one or a pair of JBL Eon One all in one speaker systems as a hire business and also to demonstrate the "art of the possible" for some new audio facilities in our local church. The aspiration is to purchase an X32 rack mounted mixer but the X Air XR12 provides enough channels for 4 XLR/combi inputs and 8 x 6 1/4" jacks.
My first comment would be don't just get it out of the box and try and use it straight away! It took a little while to get to grips with the controls and I was glad I joined the musicians at a rehearsal and made them do as I asked (for a change). When I did get the hang of it, it was fairly straightforward to operate although I would say I have yet to master it yet.
I have used both iPad and Macbook to operate and that aspect is very simple. Access to effects and various controls is straightforward although not necessarily intuitive yet.
When in operation it was great to be able to move around the venue to control all aspects of the sound as well as be able to stand with the musicians to set their foldback levels.
Physically the equipment feels robust enough for small stage handling - I bought a gatorcase for it too which looks after it in transit.
Connections are positive and there were no issues.
I have only used the built in wifi thus far and all went well with no interruptions or loss of control.
All told, I have much more to learn but with two outings I am very impressed and would recommend this particularly at the price.
