Shinobi 7 : Nice build quality and big screen
Initially after reading reviews about the Atomos Shinobi 7 I was worried about the plastic finish, but when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised with it. The plastic feels sturdy and it mounts on my Sony fx9 really well. I wouldn't recommend using this monitor on a smaller camera as its quite large. The display is 4 stars out of 5 in my opinion, coming from smallhd their image seems a little sharper and crisp where as the shinobi 7 feels a little softer and less clinical, which some might love.
I also really like the features that come with the Shinobi 7 including the false colour and peaking etc, also love that you can make your own luts for projects and load them onto the monitor. It's also plenty bright for shooting in sun although it can shine a little and reflect due to it not having a proprietary sun-hood.
One thing that isn't mentioned enough online is how important the sdi feature is, so handy having locking ports, including a dc lock which really gives me peace of mind on-set.
Would recommend this monitor as an on camera monitor for larger cameras and also as a directors monitor with a rx.
Great bit of kit!
