THR10II : So good they made it again!
I had the first THR, and now I have the second.
For home use they are great, really easy to dial in a nice tone without any menu diving. The sounds can be great with the right settings. Best of all it feels right under the fingers.
As an old skool valve head person these are just a nice easy way of pootle-ing about at home at sensible volumes and still getting cracked amp sounds and sensations.
Bluetooth is a useful addition, I rarely use the app once I have set up a few presents.
1 point deducted for having to use the app to switch the overall voicing from Normal/Boutique/Rock etc... One external button would not have broken the bank at Yamaha.
The Philip Sayce demo on Youtube is phenomenal and shows the settings he used to get those sounds. It works the same on the THRII as well :)
Never had any kind of reliability issue, if I lost it I would buy another.
This is for the THR10II without wireless, but the sounds are the same in all the range, just more volume and wireless options.
People like to compare to the Boss Katana, but really they are aimed at different customers to me.
