MG-300 : Easy to use Digital Multi effects unit

As a basic digital multi-effects unit it is very good. You can set parameters on the unit screen that you supposedly can on the PC edit software. I normally have problems remembering how to set this sort of thing after a while but the MG-300 is very easy to get back into.

My main issue with it is that it is sold with the implication that it is an amp modeller like a Helix only cheaper. It has "impulse Responses" e.g cab sims and so on. I have owned at least one of the amps supposedly modelled namely a Fender Bassman and it sounds nothing one. The only thing the supplied IR's add is more latency! You can do more with the e.q. to model speakers/cabs. The latency on the unit is not to bad but is more noticeable on clean sounds without compression. If you plug the unit into an amp this is much less evident so other than home or studio use this might not be an issue in practice.

As DME unit it is a five star, as an amp sim only four.
