D-120TB : A great acoustic guitar

6 years ago

I was looking for a decent dreadnought, that wasn't expensive enough to make me apprehensive when carrying it around, with a decent sound, acceptable aestetics and better than average neck profile.

After a few Cort (they were decent, cheap and ugly, but nowadays are a little more expensive (and they also have a "bling-bling" sort of appearance), yamahas (great guitars but look like crap when selected among the cheapest) and Ibanez (good necks but ugly sound, to me), I decided to give a try to the cheapest of all, this HB. I really liked the "western" appearance of the sunburst and the 60's look of this one so I bought both at a couple of months of distance.

The good:

- Excellent sound, equilibrated yet powerfully present in the bass;

- Really, realy outstanding neck: it compares to my 1997 Gibson Les Paul DC, so it's got one of the best necks I have ever tried.

- for the pricepoint, fairly good fretboard;

- It sounds very well tuned and tempered, really. I can play beyond the octave without hearing beats.

- effective trussroad: I can set a fairly low action;

The bad:

-Not much, may be the paint is not well refined at the body joint. I don't give a damn actually.
