EJ69 : Clarity with an ever-so-slight harshness. That said, very strong and durable.

I've had these strings on my banjo for far too long. It's been roughly 10 years...! I know I should change them, but these are sounding decent enough that I feel a bit hesitant to swap them out.

Also, there's something surprisingly sexy about an old well-loved banjo with some old old strings..

If I try to recall how they first sounded when i put them on, I think I recall them being a bit more treble-y than I had anticipated. A little thin-sounding perhaps, but a great feeling of clarity nonetheless.

Over time though, they changed slightly - the sort of thin sound mellowed and yet picked up a slight harshness (perhaps they're oxidizing slightly and are vibrating differently) that is quite wonderful.

They feel rough under my fingers. I know as soon as I change them I'll be slapping myself for not doing it 5 years earlier. Still though, I can't quite bring myself to do it. The sound of these old strings has become part of "my" sound in some strange way. I hope I can still somehow manage to be playing on them in another 10years.
