G112 : What more could you want?
I got this to use as a cabinet for a Joyo BlueJay banTamP, mostly for practice and playing at home.
I'm still working on breaking the speaker cone, but right away it's a huge upgrade from the 8" PA speaker I'd been using in the meantime. The tone is bright and open, while still sounding full, as opposed to the boxy sound that I had before.
I'm mostly using it on a pretty low volume (BlueJay's gain at noon, volume between 8 and 9 o'clock), but of course I had to crank it up to see how it handles and it did not disappoint.
Pros:
- Inexpensive
- Sounds great
- Not too heavy
Cons:
- Construction feels a bit cheap. Haven't tested durability (and don't plan to, this thing is staying home with me), but tolex feels thin and the handle and corner guards don't seem like they'd hold up too well against a bit of regular abuse. Still, for the price I'd gladly make those concessions for how it sounds.
