GX 3 : Really nice low cost amp

I've used higher end and much more expensive QSC models in the past and had until now tended to use Yamaha P3500/5000 & 7000 for low cost jobs. The first GX model I purchased was a GX5 on a bit of a punt as I've known some very good high end manufacturers really miss the mark producing entry level products. But it did not disappoint, so much so I bought two of these GX3s shortly afterwards to replace some Behringer power amps. Hands down these beat the nearest equivalent Behringer models by a mile and are even slightly better than the Yamaha P series. The sound is very open and clean with very good stereo image for a PA amplifier. In a multi speaker set up with 2xGX3 1xGX5 driving two mains, two fills and two subs I didn't have any problems setting up and noticed no phase issues that appeared amplifier related i.e that couldn't be accounted for by position and acoustics. You can drive these pretty hard and they stay quite linear up to high levels and distort in a tolerable way as you approach the limit of their ability. Many amps I've used in this price range are not so forgiving and run out of steam very sharply. I will be buying more of these in the future.
