Player Series Strat MN BK : It’s a Strat
I am a Les Paul guy. I play mainly rock. And I bought this guitar because I wanted a Strat sound and the versatility of the Stratocaster. That’s why I wanted the maple neck and the three single coils. The guitar sounds like a Strat this is no doubt. It is playable, but I like Les Pauls better. Maybe it is my bias.
The guitar is reliable and can be played on stage. Sounds good and it is versatile. In my opinion it worths the money.
I didn’t like the setup and the intonation. All my guitars have a low action, and setting this guitar for a low action, without buzzing it was quite a challenge.
The build of the guitar is good, but some details could have been better. I don’t like the saddles and the keys. Saddles have pretty long screws, that go out when you set the guitar for low action and can scratch your hands when palm muting. The keys are poor quality.
I like the neck finish. It is a little bit thick, even thicker than the necks they use on Squires. But it has 22 frets, which is cool! :). The pickups sound good and the volume and tone controls move smooth and make no cracks. The knobs are poor quality. The 3 ply pickguard is nice.
