Custom Line CLMJ-15MCE VS : Beautiful little guitar
I actually ordered this guitar by mistake, but I liked it so much that I decided to keep it.
Firstly, you should know that I’m no guitar expert. I have only been playing for two years, so I’m not very far into my guitar journey. But, I have a few other guitars (all Epiphone) to compare it to.
The finish on this guitar is beautiful. I like the matte look rather than the gloss as it doesn’t make with fingerprints so easily, Everything is well done and well put together, except that the strap pin at the base of the guitar is missing (I’m assured one is on the way to me). The frets are clean and tidy and out of the box the action was just about perfect.
Sound wise, this is a mini jumbo, so a little quieter than my dreadnaught, but I like that as it keeps my wife happier when I’m practicing, Despite the quieter volume it has a beautiful tone. Sound wise, nothing is lost. From bass to mid, to high - it’s all very clear, and I really like that. It’s also very even across the board. My Epiphone Dreadnaught is over heavy on the bass, but this guitar keeps everything level.
Size wise, it’s rather compact - but not as much as a travel guitar. It would be great for a beginner, or someone with smaller hands. But, also, great for More experienced players looking for a lounge guitar for long term use.
The pick ups area great, and the built in tuner is the best I have on any guitar. Plugged in to my Blackstar Fly 3 Acoustic, this thing sounds fantastic. It would hold its own in a small venue.
Harley Benton have made a great guitar with this one, and I’m encouraged that the quality is there for the comparatively low cost. I”ll definitely be buying another HB at some point,
So, I’m incredibly happy with my little accident and won’t be sending it back. She’s a keeper.
