Beta 58 A : The standard for live singing and speech

I have used this mic both in studio and live, although it is favorable in live setups due to its cardioid pickup pattern ability to cancel out unwanted sources coming from its back.

It is a mic of very good quality, very robust, capable of sustaining impacts and heavy wear and tear thus making it even more ideal for live.

In terms of sound quality, it is a bit brighter than the SM58. In fact I tend to use this mic for speech in live setups as it helps making the voice more intelligible and clear. For singing vocals, I prefer this mic to be used on Bass, Alto, and Tenor voices. In styles of modern rock and pop music it complements well the sound. But I would go for the SM58 for other more 'raw' styles such as Indie and Folk.

All in all it is a good investment for live events, where build-quality, rejection of unwanted sound sources and intelligibility are key to a good sounding event.
