4202 Rottenburgh Soprano : Higly recommended for the intermediate player
After years of playing on the cheaper versions of recorders and learning the basics, I actually wanted to purchase a higher quality recorder that sounded more like a 'wood instrument' and has a richer sound. I also wanted a Baroque instead of a German design. My aim being to learn how to do trills, play higher notes purer and play smoother and faster melodies and have a challenge.
I am very impressed with the quality! The recorder comes in a well designed casing and has everything one needs to keep it in good condition. The recorder is a tiny bit smaller than most soprano recorders but I have small hands so it's perfect for me. The rich sound is very pure and where I always had to make an extreme effort to get out the higher notes, this model allows for finer airflow and is very sensitive to the touch giving easier access especially to the higher register. The lower register has a beautiful rich tone to it as well. I think the only thing I didn't like is that I had to take my time to ''play the instrument in'' (week one: 5 min daily max; week 2: 10 min daily max etc). I also had to learn the Baroque fingering but that went quite quickly. I am a very happy and now more advanced recorder player. I am really pleased with this product!
