SM57 LC : Everyone should own one at least - and more if possible
This is the ultimate recording tool that can be used on nearly everything.
Whether micing up a guitar cab, acoustic instruments, or drums the SM57 is just a mic you've got to have in your arsenal.
A question often asked by guitarists is whether they should get an SM57 or a Sennheiser E609/E906. From my experience. For the price I would suggest buying two SM57s instead of the Sennheiser and micing up and recording two mic placements simultaneously. This is an extremely powerful method that gives you the power of blending tones, which is essential to getting a well-rounded guitar sound.
The difference between these mics is mainly how much they pick up. The SM57 is more precise and will home in on specific frequencies and does this extremely well. The Sennheiser gets a more overall sound and requires less precision when micing up the cab.
What is more is that the Shure simply beats the Sennheiser on versatility. This thing can really record nearly everything and is an industry standard.
