Friedman BE-DLX : Probably the best Synergy module available right now
Yeap - probably the best one of the bunch.
2 identical channels each with their own BE/HBE and Saturation (aka the Jose mod) switches.
Then, on the inside, it's got a switch to flip the module to Low-Gain or High-Gain mode along with the FAT switch (adds more fullness to the tone - great for single coils). These inside switches though affect both channels so if you flip the FAT switch ON, it'll be on for both the module's channels; same goes for the gain Structure switch. It would have been too good to have the FAT and STRUCT switches available on a per-channel basis as well but the front-plate's already as crammed as it can get so I get why this did not happen.
With the gain STRUCT in Low mode, the BE channel can get REALLY good clean tones with the Gain knob dialed down while cranking the Gain up on the other channel can get you anywhere from Crunch to tight aggressive / percussive metal (no boost needed - enabling the SAT switch adds even more perceived gain and compression).
With the gain STRUCT in High mode, you can get edge of breakup / crunch tones with the Gain pot turned down in BE mode; cranking the Gain up going into HBE mode gives you that wild & articulate British tone Friedman's famous for.
All in all, great module; a lot of available range in just this one preamp.
