I have cheapie cheap acoustic bass, a Chinese made Cheetah, and I have put cheap strings on it thinking for a £65 guitar it's not worth spending half the value of the guitar on strings but I could not have been more wrong. After not playing it for months because it sounded tinny and out of tune above the 5th fret I decided to take the plunge (it was that or throw it away!). The difference was immeasurable! It now has a lovely warm tone and is it tune throughout the neck. So if you have had even the most passing fancy with these strings but were put off by the cost, fear not...they reward you no end?

These bass strings are fantastic for people who try to get a very soft attack, quick decay, warm sound. It gives a vibe that sounds between a classical guitar and a double bass, very interesting and expressive. Three caveats: - The strings are slack and roll under the (picking) fingers. It needs some time to adjust. - You need a piezo, as they won't word for magnetic pickup - Because of the low tension, they produce a quieter sound. Pros (why I cannot use anything else on my acoustic bass) - the sound is unique, soft, acoustic, doublebass-y, lush, rich. - the strings are consistent between sizes, and between sets

Warwick black tapewounds are now on my Fender Kingman long scale elecrto/acoustic bass. Firstly: The fit is superb with none of the binding getting in the way either end. It seems a simple thing but I have used other brands of Tapewounds which clashed with either the nut or the bridge...not here though, the length is perfect. The Feel: These have the tape wound feel but they are not super smooth like some others...this I find just gives a little 'bite' to them when you want to bend a note. They feel good when sliding up the neck and are not anywhere near as noisy against the frets as the standard acoustic set which came on this bass. The Tone: I got these strings for the vintage vibe, the smooth feel, quieter against the frets and classic tones both plugged in and acoustic. They deliver...

Of course one should notice, that strings for acoustic basses are not overflowing the market. So the number of choices are naturally smaller than for acoustic guitars. But I was able to test different kinds of strings for acoustic basses and I was indeed very surprised to find, that these Martin strings provide a very natural overall sound, both in matters of frequency range and tone. They sound brilliantly in high freq. tones and deep for low freqs. The latter is not self evident! A lot of other strings seem to swallow the deep growl feeling one wants and sound a bit tinny instead. These don't! The shiny bronze plating looks nice and it takes a lot of playing and with it perspiration to get these strings to look old. Even without the unbeatable price in mind, these strings are very...

I bought these as a replacement for the strings on my Harley Benton B35 acoustic bass. As this is an inexpensive (but good value) bass I did not want to spend a large amount on strings. These are not the first set of Red Label bass strings I have bought, and each time they have been perfectly good strings which compare well to more expensive brands. As bronze strings, these are initially very bright and have a somewhat textured feel, but this seems to be normal with bronze. The tension is quite high and some may prefer a lighter set, but this does help to maximise the acoustic volume of the instrument in my opinion.

I am a Muse, Pendulum, Royalblood fan and also Reggae fanatic. I have the strings on my Fender all black pj bass and they look amazing. They are very easy to play, They feel very slick and no discomfort no matter how long you play for. For Reggae dub they are perfect, they produce that really low tone with zero sustain which is perfect for reggae. Using effects such as plasma pedal for Muse, pedulum, royalblood really shows off the dynamics of these strings, I love them and will only use these strings from now on. The only con for me was out of the 4 strings, one wasn't black it had obviously missed the dipping process so I am ordering more. The price is amazing and I recommend.
