Best Aquila Soprano Low-G Regular Nylgut Alternatives

I use these strings with my Kala KA-CE and I'm satisfied with them. Before these I used the regular nylgut strings and the reason I started to use super nylgut is that they are smooth and silent. No more annoying harshness when moving my fingers on the strings. They have a slightly darker tone then the regular ones but not muddy. I play mostly jazz and the Aquila Super Nylgut strings are perfect. I even like the grey-ish pearl color. The same quality as the regular nylgut. I totally recommend these strings.

First off, the Flurocarbon gives a tight accurate feel and sound, that really adds to the playability of the instrument. The low G gives a more rounded sound to the Ukulele, I think that’s what Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (had to google that one) used on Over the Rainbow. If you are a guitar player that plays ukulele, or playing with a group of ukuleles, I urge you to try these, they make the Uke stand out. Well done D’addario. I am using these on a Golin Multiuke for reference and play about a hundred Ukulele gigs a year.

Completely transformed my baritone ukulele from a "mushy" dangling sound to a full bright as well as bassy sound. The first two strings take a lot of time to settle in and expand greatly when tuning (don't leave too much of space when winding the new string for the first time, because it will expand by 10 percent or so and you could end up with no space for winding on the tuning peg). Sadly, the first string broke after 3-4 days of playing, so don't forget to check the nut and file a bit with an old string or a fine sandpaper if necessary. Also sanding the frets a bit and smoothing them a bit will help in the long run. These strings are a bit more "gentle" than your standard nylon set, so keep that in mind. All in all, I really recommend the strings. Have a good play.

Soon after I started playing ukulele I decided I wanted low G strings. The first brand I tried had a metal wound low G string and I did not really like the feel of that. So when I heard about these strings I ordered them and I like them a lot better. I understand why they are so popular. For me it makes playing my ukulele more enjoyable and the sound is warmer with these strings. I've been using them for months now and they are holding up great. I also happen to like the look of the brown strings on my ukulele, which is made of light wood. I'm going to keep using these strings!

Aquila pretty much wrote the book on ukulele strings. They feel great, they sound great, they last a good long while and once they have settled into tune, they will stay there. They will make even the cheapest uke sound as good as it ever will, and on a top end instrument they will really let the instrument sing. The six string set comes with an extra high C and a low A, which in this instance is a wound string rather than the new Aquila red string. The wound string gives you a really nice, strident bass note to add a bit of depth to your sound, while the high C adds a bit of 'sparkle' at the top. All in all, really great strings, wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We have three Baritone ukes in the family, a very good Tanglewood, an inexpensive Kmise with aftermarket piezo bridge installed, and a custom solid body electric baritone. These Martin M630 strings are in our view either the best choice or the second-best on all of these instruments. On the Tanglewood the acoustic tone of a new set of Aquila Reds is more vibrant than these strings. But a week later the rapid wear on the Aquila Red wound strings has caused the tone to deteriorate - then the winding comes off. On the Kmise, the tonal difference is negligible and the M630s have lasted over six months of furious strumming. They still sound OK, especially using the piezo pickup, but the windings look 'used', and the tone is less bright.. Probably overdue for replacement now. On the custom...

I purchased a set of these: Pyramid E-Ukulele String Set: & think they're Great. Although they are intended for a Soprano sized Ukulele I purchased the, hopping they would fit my Clearwater Solid Body Electric Tenor Ukulele & I'm thrilled with the transformation to its sound. I prefer the larger size of the tenor ukulele & wanted a solid bodied electric uke., but there are very few options available with steel strings. I contacted the manufacturer to see if the bridge & neck were up to fitting steel strings, they said that although they couldn't be certain, but if I put a couple of screws through the bridge it should be O.K. This I did, & then looked at string options, which for a tenor seems to be limited to the Low G tuning & I prefer the standard G C E A. My...

Sounded very nice, played on a £200 Gretsch Uke and were a huge improvement on the stocks it came with (Pyramids, I believe) Very dark tone, better for fingerpicking than strumming play, although it's mostly down to personal preference they're certainly not as bright as Aquila standard nylguts. Silver wound C string adds to the tone depth and gives the strings a nice feel. Quality was astounding, as should be expected, they held tune for 3 months before I changed them, and showed no signs of wear however they will only string your ukulele once as they're not long enough to do so twice, hence only 4 stars for quality, but I feel that's a rather harsh deduction but necessary. I would certainly recommend these strings

I ordered the Aquila Corde Concerto Regular Nylgut WH strings for my Kala Makala Dolphin CAR ukulele as I hear recommendations about changing the strings that came with the ukulele to Aquila Nylcut strings. I was too lazy to change the stringsat first, but when I did, the change in the tone was huge. The Aquila Nylgut strings sound very bright and keep well to tune. Receiving the strings was a bit confusing though, as they weren't placed very secrely to the shipment and most of the strings in their individual clear plastic pouches had gotten out of the Aquila paper package into the huge box containing the ukulele and ukulele beginner's book I ordered at the same time, and the string pouches had been confusingly color coded only on the outside, leaving me to wonder which strings were the...

These are my favourite brand of strings to use. I have used them for many years, on both my ukulele and my acoustic guitar. At a reasonable price, I think these strings give a fantastic bright, full sound, that really lasts. In the past I have used other brands of strings and I have found that Martin strings last much longer, while still keeping that great, bright sound. The strings always have a nice feel to them and I have never known any of martin strings to come damaged in any way. Using these strings on my ukulele has made it sound like a much more professional instrument, giving it a fuller, stronger sound. I recommend you give these ago so you can hear the difference for your self.
