I bought this pair of headphones as a step up from a lower price bracket. I also own modded Fostex T50RP and Hifiman HE400i 2020. They were bought for home music enjoyment and I have been listening with them on an Ifi Zen Can and Schiit Magnius amplifiers. On both I find the sound extremely immersive - feeling like it is all around me, with enough separation to give interesting and absorbing detail but not a great deal of width. I am finding the most fun listening to rock and metal on the warmer Ifi which to my ear these headphones work particularly well with. Classical music can feel a bit heavy and claustrophobic on these for me but is still very enjoyable for the right composers! Comfort is excellent even though the clamp is a little strong. I am not sure I'd want to wear them for too...

I've tested and used the standard Beyerdynamics, AKGs as well as multiple Sennheisers, specifically the HD650. Although I got to love the HD650 (it's still the most comfortable one out of all the ones I've used) it's more of a hifi headphones type and a fantastic one for that matter. But mixing wise (I also use the Yamaha Hs8s + sub and got used to them) the MT8 blew me away. This is the most honest headphones I've ever tried. You can hear any nuances in the mix. BUT if you wear glasses, this headphones won't work for you, because the quality only hearable if your ears COMPLETELY covered (!!!) If not, it sounds like a $10 headphones, I'm not kidding! I had to send it back and choose something else regardless how I adored it. (Anyway, I've choosen a Focal Clear MG Professional, which provides at least as much quality than the AKG K-872, but it doesn't mind if I wear glasses or not, it sounds pretty much the same.)

I first tried this series back in the 2000s with the ATH-A900. Now, nearly 20 years later, I'm loving the ATH-A990Z. The overall sound presentation is nicely speaker-like thanks to the angled drivers (great sound stage, IMO), and the frequency balance is very pleasing while still being appropriately revealing to fit in with other headphones in the price range. These use rather large drivers, which gives powerful low frequencies and lower midrange without sacrificing detail in the upper mids and treble, but in some cases the closed-back nature (with inherent resonance, though these are well-damped) can make the bass slightly "slower" seeming than smaller diaphragm, open headphones. Can't fault the sound; there is a danger of chasing certain frequencies by increasing volume; which can be extreme. Comfort is generally good, but long stretches can cause pressure points of discomfort; need to move position from time to time.. But it's worth it I've never had it so good; tweak your system and it gives no end of thrills and insight I was concerned by reports of them not doing rock music well but I have no regrets; the presentation is different to what I was used to i.e. Grado and Hifiman but I prefer these and am not letting them go soon. If they broke or became damaged I'd simply replace them without being tempted away.

At first I was sceptical that these would be worth their money because I already have two other sets of studio headphones from different manufacturers, but these blew me away when I put them on. The open back design is phenomenal and the headphones work great together with Dearvr Mix to give you the actual feeling of sitting in a mixing room, unlike the other two pairs I own. These headphones aren't the fanciest, they don't fold or twist into a smaller size for easy travel, but what they do is deliver you a fantastic sound that let's you hear what you couldn't hear before. They're basically limited to a studio-like environment or for home use but I highly recommend you get yourself a pair and check them out yourself!

To start, the 909s are AMPs picky, so picky some of your best amps will not pair well with them while your lower cost amps will make them sing, this is all due to the low impedance that they have. If they are not paired well, you'll find the highs shrill and feel like daggers through your ears and the bass will sound flabby and out of control. However, find the right amp and sit back. Clarity, low end, transients and layering are all TOTL level. These are amazing with the subwoofer like bass that digs deep, resonates and has a slow decay. It never affected the mids which were wonderfully clear along with non sibilant highs, however, the sound stage might not be as big as the Senns 800s, but it's wider than similarly priced headphones and has a 3D extention in all directions. I moved from Denmark to Spain a few years ago and been trying to find the right combination for work and living witch has been giving me a big big challenges . Coming from years in big studios with the right acoustic its been so so hard to work in apartments on smaller setups… Finally i fund the Audeze headphones and it gave me back the joy of producing and writing as it fells like you have 2 set awesome speakers direcly on your head no matter where you you are and gives you a fantastic volume without trashing the sound… Its just a out of this world experience working with sooo details sounding headphones as the Audeza… I know this is not the most expensive once but they deliver so much than expected and the price… This is NOT my last pair of Audeze LCD-2...

Bass Player here. I bought these on the basis of reviews, price point and thinking that if they work for a drummer they would work for me. I wasn't disappointed. Great sound over a full frequency range and they fit really well. I felt the sound isolation although good wasn't quite as good as claimed but possibly with different tips (lots of combinations are supplied) you could improve this. I've gigged a few times with them now and for the money I can't fault them. Could possibly be the best £150 GBP I have ever spent. For context I have gigged with a function band and an original Americana band with the Drumeos.

I use this headphone for low level listening and it sounds very good. The Behringer Alpha behaves like a chameleon : it can sound brittle and harsh, boomy bass etc. But that’s just revealing what your source sounds like. It’s resolution is good enough to reveal the difference in sound quality between the different streaming services too. Sp****y sounds like crap. With a good source and decent recorded material the Alpha sounds great, only a little eq is needed. The Behringer Alpha is also very well built and comfortable to wear. The cable supplied has standard mini jack connector so can easily be replaced. The only negative remark is about the plug that goes into the amp : this looks a bit flimsy compared to the rest of the construction. For this price you can’t go wrong.
