Awesome Sound Capture!
The Audix D4’s capture the drums as I hoped they would - the low end (when used on floor Toms) is Awesome!
Audix D4
I used the D4 on the Floor tom. It has very good detail and nice bottom end. It makes the floor tom sound big. the Attack is also good. Very well constructed and good quality.
Professional Quality Mic
It is what the headline says just a Professional Quality Microphone
Simply the best tom microphone ever
Audix microphone are superb....this tom mic is no exception...great clarity and attack..cuts through a live mix. light weight easy to position.
Perfect for floor toms
I'm using this on my 16" floor tom and love the sound I get - full, rich and deep.
Solidly built microphone, lovely build quality, though physically quite a large mic, and I can imagine this lasting for years and years of use.
I like it so much, I am going to buy a second one for my 14" tom to replace the Sennheiser I'm currently using.
Special mic for floor tom
We needed a reinforcement for our Audix 4 pieces drum kit (kick, snare & 2 OH) and it works fine.
The sound is magnificent, impressive and now we have full coverage for recording and live performance
Metal black housing: robust and well designed
The price is surely worth its good quality
Great microphone
I use Audix D4 for my floor toms. Every sound tech that has had the opportunity to mix the sound have remarked how good the drums sound. If you want modern sounding drum mics with the just right amount of pre-eq, theese are the ones you are looking for. I'm very happy with mine as they give me the sound I want.
TOP
I use for my floor tom and they are powerfull and warm!!! High recommend!!!
Good allround mic for low end audio sources
I got this mic after watching some comparisons between a bunch of drum kick mics. Somehow this seemed the best sounding for its price, while not having exaggerated EQ. But since I'm recording a lot of metal, I felt I need a bit extra from the mic and am now waiting for the D6 to arrive, which is very popular for this music genre.
I might still use the D4 for close attack miking on the kick drum. I do like the sound on the high end.
Best floor tom mic
The audix D4 is for me the best floor tom mic with almost no need for EQ. Great low frequency response and punchy sound. I play metal and like the sturdyness of the capsule, and it can definitely take a hit or two without breaking (unlike Shure SM57). I would however recommend to buy another tom mount than the audix ones as they are made of plastic and hard to fixate (they tend to rattle a bit and not stay in place). I bought a kit of microphones and one additional D4 for the extra floor tom i have and it sound awesome.
