This mouthpiece is based on the famous Bach Mt Vernon 3c and is slightly larger than the Stork Vachiano 3c I have played for years. The stork makes a rich sound on both Bb and C trumpet but in the orchestra I needed something that helped me create a bigger symphonic sound and that helped me project in loud passages. This mouthpiece has been excellent in allowing me to achieve these goals has a very comfortable rim, and is very responsive. The inner diameter and the cup are larger than other 3c's I've played. The only tiny issue is that the silver plating seems to show signs of wear relatively quickly but I still thoroughly recommend it!

Very interesting mouthpiece, don't be fooled when you open the box beacuse it looks like some brands flugelhorn mouthpieces :) but the shank is definitly trumpet. It is not mouthpiece for people who want their trumpet to sound like classic trumpet. It makes your sound closer to that of a flugelhorn (but not entirely). If you like play on classic trumpet mouthpieces and you dont like playing on fluelhorn mouthpieces dont buy it. The rim and the cup (which even looks like that one for flugelhorn) feels like mouthpieces for flugelhorn. But if you like to experiment and change your sound, make it more open, warm and soft it is definitly mouthpiece for you....and it looks gorgeous

I am giving this four points because I think it is a beautifully crafted mouthpiece. However, the rim does not fit me personally, being too rounded, but of course this is a very personal matter and everyone will have different needs and preferences in this compartment. Also, it really is a heavy mouthpiece and has a specific sound. I guess it is not usually used in jazz or "lighter music". The sound is certainly massive, but speaks better, at least for me, in the low and middle register, though when one does manage the high notes, they are unusual and full of colour. I would say that this mouthpiece is special exactly in this "colour". I have tried two other heavy Denis Wick pieces, and they more or less fit into the above, but this, the 1 1/4C is my favourite for its...

Warburton Top Part 5 XD for Trumpet

Warburton Top Part 5 XD for Trumpet

Make no mistake, when Warburton named this the XD (eXtra Deep) they weren't joking - it's a deep, V-shaped cup that takes considerably more work than their D cup does to play. The sound is superb - fat and rich. As usual with Warburton mouthpieces - a fairly wide and flat rim, moderately sharp bite and tightly build to exacting tolerances (as you can tell by just how well their tops and backbores mate up). Flexibility is superb and its easy to get the articulation nice and clean... this comes, however, at the expense of ease and security of the extreme high register. As with any mouthpiece, you'll like it if those compromises suit what you want.
