Okay for HEAVY DISTORTION!!!

I bought this not because I'm a fan of that heavily overdriven bass sound but purely because I thought I should have some kind of overdrive available on my board.

All the controls work absolutely perfectly and although plastic it actually feels fairly bomb-proof. My problem is the sound of the overdrive effect itself. First off, as soon as you turn the drive knob 1mm you are in at the deep end with no gentle introduction for those who might want just a little extra drive to their bass. If you turn the knob any further you are into some really seriously heavy distortion! Secondly, the sound is not particularly smooth and growling but is more of a sharp rasp! The balance (blend) control works well but you still have that harsh sharp sound in the background. The only way I have personally found a decent sound so far is to turn down most of the mids and top end which leaves it sounding slightly muddy but a little smoother.

Don't get me wrong, for a budget pedal it's absolutely fine but in reality it's a full on BASS DISTORTION PEDAL and for something like thrash or serious heavy metal, it's probably fine. If you want a little extra warm smooth drive on your bass look elsewhere, though you will probably need to pay a lot more.

I now have a fair collection of Behringer pedals and 9 times out of 10 can honestly say that they don't disappoint in any way at all. This one sadly doesn't do what I expected of it and should maybe be re-labelled as a 'Bass Distortion'.

It will stay on my board for now and I am in no big rush to change it, but if I win the lottery in the future, I will be looking for something else with a warmer creamier overdrive!

Five Star Product

This Pedal is ideal for the novice guitarist to a more experienced player who is on a budget, at £22 the price is inexpensive, and the pedals construction is a robust light weight plastic, and of durable design which is perfect for home use.

Pros

The sound is quite dynamic in its scope, from a clean crisp dry tone to a gritty overdriven output.

Tone adjustment and battery replacement are accessible from the top of the unit making the pedal easy to use and maintain.

Cons

For the price none, but if I had to call it out on one, then that would be its probably not robust enough for the professional who uses it 24/7.

Good quality but the sound is too fake..

I needed a distortion pedal to play some metal/hard rock with my band. The quality of the pedal is very good for the price, I mean, it’s made out of plastic but feels pretty solid. The knobs are easy to use and physically there’s nothing wrong with this. But my point is: it can be as solid as possible but the main thing to consider here is the sound, and I don’t like it. I tried to get a very growling distortion but it just sounds like an emulation of a real distortion, it sounds kind of fake. This is my personal opinion, for the price I’d recommend to get one of these and maybe you’ll like it. There’s a cool video describing the pedal on YouTube, just take a look there and make up your mind! Overall, i’m not impressed.

Great Bass overdrive for synths

I use this overdrive for my synths and it works wonders with a moog Minitaur!

Excelent value for the money

I bought this pedal because I wanted to make my first pedalboard for my bass. For the price is a no brainer if you're getting your hand with pedals for the first time like me.

I can hear some buzz when it is in true bypass mode and when it is active it sound kind of muffled but overall I'm very satisfied with it because I've been able to play and experiment with pedals without selling my house. I can see however if some more experienced players don't like this pedal due to its quality, which is not a problem for me since I'm still a beginner.

Its Cheap

If you like things to feel great, look great, are cheap, and sound terrible!

This is the padel for you ;)

i mean it is possible to make an accaptable sound but anything that need 3h od work for it to sound good is not somthing i would recommend.

Useful pedal for a nice price

This works great with boss bass and guitar. Really nice sounding overdrive. My favourite features are the semi-parametric eq, and the balance knob which blends the dry signal in with the dirty signal. Great price.

Better than many high end distortion pedals

I bought this pedal to complete a pedalboard (along with a Behringer BEQ) with which i play at home. The overdrive quality is not very good (sounds very digital and it's hard to get a decent setting that avoids this) and i would advise anyone to try something else. I already suspected that when i bought it and it's not something that matters that much to me because i rarely play with it. That's why i chose a cheap overdrive instead of a better one. Also, it's made of plastic and i would definitely not take it to play live.

If you intend to play frequently with a overdrive don't buy this, buy a decent quality overdrive (try Aguilar Agro).
