great synth and great store

the synthesizer is very good, especially for the money you pay for it

Mother 42

For the price.... this machine "de-stroys-ah" its competiton, IF it even has any! It's a little modular synth of its own, sounds "PH" phat ON its own, and it plays nice with analog synths as well as well as PC/iPad. Yeah, it's got only one Oscillator. But the Crave can bend and mangle that thing like it's nobody's business. If you... um... like music... get this!

Peace out!

Great sound!

1st synth I bought and it got me hooked!

The sequenser is a little getting used to so i use the Keystep's which is very easy to work with.

Sounds amazing

Excellent first hardware mono.

Advanced patching possibilities with itself and friends.

This guy knows his stuff!

The synth is simple, monophonic subtractive with limited LFO / ENV kits, but a step sequencer.

classic filter

Oscillator ordinary 3340.

It's good - that the synth is semi-modular at its price. Nice set of patches.

Ideal for a beginner's guide.

I should also mention that these synthesizers are very good for live performances. Laptop + Crave is much more fun than just a laptop. And such a set will theoretically even fit in hand luggage.

Can't be beat for this price

The Crave is a monophonic synth with quite some editing possibilities due to an extensive patchbay and step sequencer that is quite expressive and flexible. Even if it looks like a limited synth at first sight it is surprising what you can make with it - just check youtube tutorials by loopop, Starsky Carr and Anton Anru. I use it for electro and techno and it somehow finds its way in almost any track I make.

the interface is not simple. take a little time to get used to. the sound is very good for the money

Fun

I am not very experienced using synths but Crave is fun to fool around with. Just beginning to get into the depths of it. A sturdy made analogue

synth. Feels great under my fingers. Generates all kinds of sounds.

**PS: the manual is practically non-existent.. you will need to dive into YouTube to find tutorial....some are workable...

Best first analog synth to start with, ease of control, wonderfull filter and really good build quality. Nothing better for its price range

Difficult at first but plenty of video's on youtube to learn. It is a very fun toy and i highly recommend it!

great value for money

it sounds good and in the hand the feeling is not of a cheap toy.

the only con is for me the 3,5 jack as output

Nice Moog Mother 32 clone

I compared this Crave with the MM32 and in many respects they are real twins. To me this is a stealth clone of the MM32. What's lacking is some patch input to allow external LFO control of the filter. And the sequencer starts by itself as soon as an external sequencer starts midi. This can be solved by using a midi filter to disable system and real msgs, but the patch bay does not offer a workaround. Exactly the same problem as MM32 by the way ;-) The sound is very nice, Moogish so to say. A fun synth.

Cheap semi-modular can't get better than that

I praise Behringer everyday for making synthesizers at such a low price.

It looks sharp, it is true analog, and the semi-modular part is a gem for learning how Control Voltage works.

It sounds very nice, even though I suspect some equalization could be needed to integrate it in songs.

I would have liked a separate envelope for the oscillator and the vcf, but at this price range, how can I complain? Everything you need to explore subtractive synthesis is there, with a step sequencer on top!

preis-leistungsverhältnis = top

der Sequencer ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig und nicht im playmodus editierbar. sonst sehr gutes produkt.

Great little synth for the money

Cheaper Moog Mother with a few extras...sort of.

It isn't a Moog, but for the money it still sounds great!

The size is just right. No problem fiddling with the controlls.

Knobs are not wobbly and have a decent amount of friction when turning (they could turn more freely).

I'm still getting used to the patchbay thing.

Output only to a small jack connector...I can live with that.

A lot of the functions are accessible via key combinations which are not labelled on the unit so you have to look them up and remember.

When I start my sequencer hooked via MIDI, by default Crave also starts its internal sequencer. I think this can be disabled.

It's great that it has MIDI through. Separate OUT/THROUGH would also have been nice.

I would have liked the main tuning knob to snap to the 0 position so that you could tune it correctly witout fiddling around. It only has 1 oscillator so that would make sense imo.

Overall a great machine (not just because of its price).

Fat sounding analog beast

This synthesizer sounds very nice, I use it for wide palette of sounds. The filter very musical.

Pros: sound, build quality, semi-modular options, arpeggiator

Minus: strange sync of arpeggiator quantization with DAW, not clear manual

For this price it is hard to beat Crave, if you need to bring some analog vibe to your mixes it is go to synth. Hope in future firmware update the sync issue. will be fixed.

Great Synth

Sounds really nice and the patch bay is just hours of fun.

Cool sound and very usable arragement of knobs

I use this live and in studio.

All options are very easy to find, so it's really nice to play with Crave. It's very compact in the same time.

Sound is warm and have this "analog feeling". Filter is agressive, it was a nice suprise.

Only one thing - the painting is delicate, too delicate for hardware.

One of the best starting synth

Great for learning synthesis and patching. Can serve as a solid start for adding more modular/semi-modular instruments, which I think is it?s real strength. Buttons are very clicky, not as nice as the Mother 32, but otherwise very nice instrument.
