Behringer FCB1010 Reviews
Feature-rich MIDI Controller for a great price
Best price for any MIDI-controller you'll ever find. However, it's very hard to configure, but if you are willing to put time in learning to understand it, it's perfect for a very low price.
Very nice
But you should be a programmer to know how to set up some modes.
I read some days before i manage to use it the way I want it...but in the end all was ok.
After 1 month of usage it seems that it really has a lot of features and it preatty much does more then switching :)
Its alittle bit tricky in the beggining because you have to know what do you want the pedalboard to be used for. But it can send MIDI notes, change programs, pedal expresion and all sorts of stuff. Plus it can be upgraded to do other functions as well.
Very robust, durable in my opinion, over all a great product!
A great tool for various situations.
I use this midi pedalboard for some time now...
At the moment I can say it's a tool for any occasion on a budget due to the fact that it can be programmed easily and its use can spam from PC to racks mounted or any device with midi signals.
I've used this pedalboard, and still do, with various occasions from studio sessions to live performance.
the fact that can be programable allows me to used it with items like Guitar Rig, Amplitube on PC, live with amp channel switching and effect rigs like Eleven rack or Line6 devices.
Quality wise, I can say that for the money it's great, unfortunatly some little aspects of it are a little less amazing, such as the pedals (all) are made in plastic and the light on each foot pedals are too little to be seen on stage.
the other aspect is the size of the pedalboard, thinking of airplaine traveling with it, you would need a regular size suitcase.
Good and versatile
Bought some of these to use with our Kempers live. There is an aftermarket chip (comes with glow-in-the-dark stickers as well) that you can buy that is pre-programmed for the Kemper, which makes it extremely easy to use. My main gripe with these is that the expression pedals give a bit of a "meh" feeling. The range is pretty small (physically) and the resistance just make them feel kind of awkward to use.
Good MIDI pedal to a reasonable price.
Using this one with an Axe Fx II and it works well switching presets and whatnot. If you wanna get more advanced and have a pedal change individual effects inside a presents, you will need a 3rd party logic board for that. The expression pedals can be set to control individual effects, but they'r really not that good since there's no weight or balance to make them more precise. They feel very cheap and I don't really use them at all.
Don't count on internet preprograming software for 20 bucks... in the end it will be better if you program it yourself, and it won't take that much time anyway. Otherwise, I'm happy with this piece with it's price
THE standard midifootcontroller!
The Behringer FCB1010 is one of the most used midicontrollers these days. Originally created to control the Behringer V-Amp series, it can be used with all the popular guitarpreamps on the market, for example the Kemper Profilamp, nearly every Line6 Pod, the Rocktron Preamps or Fractal Audios Axe-Fx.
It's easy to program and set up.
I use it with the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx Ultra and I don't think about getting an other Midicontroller. The price is unbeatable in relation to the given quality. I'm considering getting a second one as backup and for use at home. Especially the two expressionpedals are great to use as a volume, whammy, wha or to control different parameters.
Of course, it's not a high end product and the quality of the used parts is typical Behringer, but it does the job excellent! You won't regret buying it!
Best "bang for the buck" in this category!
It does the job well!
Whether you're on a budget or not, you have to be careful to invest well in your music equipment. I would rather invest more in an effects unit then in a midi controller that will be kicked around on stage! Stages can get quite busy...especially if space is limited. This pedal works well and does its job...and seriously...it's not expensive compared to others. So far it has done it's job well. I'm using it with Rack Eleven and it connects pretty well. I would suggest, however, to first research on it on the internet before purchasing the pedal. Some sites can give you some ideas of how best to use this pedal. It is built quite well too so I can't complain.
Good quality
The Behringer FCB-1010 is a classical midi-board. I bought it to use it within my Kemper Profiling amp. The options provided by the board are versatile. You can use 12 switches an 2 pedals which can be configured as you need it. So I can easily use the board to control my KPA .
The quality of the board is quite good. It is very stable. The gap between the food switches could be a little wider if I use the board at home an have clocks at my feets it is not that easy to click only the right switch. But using normal shoes it is not a big problem.
You can find a lot of information about how to use this board at the web. So it is easy to get information how to use the board within a lot of stuff you want to use the board with. But the fact that the board is used by so many people is not only helpful in this case, it also tells you what I also will say: I would buy it again. The price is very hot!
Disaster
Dont buy this as a handy midi controller....it's a nightmare to program.
Also, the pedals are a very thin plastic...not at all durable.
Great with Avid Eleven Rack
Have been using it with an Avid Eleven Rack Unit, and could not complain.
It was actually very plug & play, did not have to configure anything.
I'm not doing very sophisticated stuff with it, mere switching between different channels, muting and turning on the tuner, but it does that absolutely perfect.
No reason to complain, and no reason to buy anything more expensive :)
Good Controller!
I bought this controller mainly for using it with guitar emulation software in a live setting (Guitar Rig, Amplitube and TH2). It also does a great job for controlling a DAW software, in my case REAPER.
First of all the manual is not that great, but useful for getting started.
But on the other hand there is plenty of support via internet with a large community of users. Like many others, i like to program the controller via a pc editor, and after a short internet search i found a very good freeware software for doing that. I really like the integrated power supply and the overall build quality of the FCB1010. Especially for the price, it's an absolute recommendation!
Great budget midi controller for the price
I purchased my FCB1010 to use with my Elevenrack and have found it great. My main gripe would be that the 2 expression pedals are a bit cheap feeling, although for the price of the unit that isn't really a big gripe. There aren't any other midi controllers with so many options in this price bracket, although I felt that the FCB1010 had far more options than I need - it'd be great if there was a unit that was half the size of this one available. I found this unit a little heavy to be carrying about with me to gigs when I have a rack case, guitar etc too.
It does have very solid metal construction and the buttons do seem very rugged. It has a big bright display and if I felt like I needed the functions, I'd definitely replace it like for like.
Brilliant piece of equipment
Contrary to popular belief, programming this controller is as easy as following the manual step by step! Currently using it as a footswitch board to toggle sounds and effects on my Nord Stage.
Pedal sweep angle is rather small, about half of the usual pedal sweep. Needs some getting used to. Switch buttons are stiff and sturdy, just a bit small if you have large feet and shoes on.
Two of the foot switches can be used as analog switches - i.e. routed through foot switch jack instead of midi jack. I found this to a be really useful feature as it allows me to program one of the switch buttons as a sustain pedal for my Nord Stage.
Build quality is excellent, doesn't feel flimsy like other Behringer products.
The FCB1010 + UNO chip = bang for the buck
I lacks features and is difficult to program, but all this is opposite when using UNO and the FCB/UNO Controlcenter
Great cheap midicontroller
While perhaps not being the most modern midi controller today since it has been around for quite a few years now, it is still unbeatable for the price as far as i know and still a very good controller.
I own two of these since a number of years that are used at gigs and rehearsals and they have never failed me.
I use the free FCB PC editor by ED Dixon with graphical interface for programming it since day one, this is where half of the value in getting one of these is. I wouldnt want to program it without an editor though, it really makes it much easier. There are other editors for the FCB1010 available as well.
While it is priced for beginners it certainly would work for just about anyone, myself im not a beginner having played guitar for over 30 years and play at what maybe could be called a semi-pro level.
There are other more advanced controllers out there, but usually they are much more expensive and there is often no editor available.
A very strong build product with lots of flexibility. You can use it with a lot of software and hardware too ( Guitar Rig is my favorite). Takes a bit of time to get use with the programing but all in all friendly user. Good price for the merchandise you`ll get. I am happy with it .
easy to set up and rugged
i got this controller to use with tc g major 2 and i was dreading setting it all up as midi controllers can be notoriously difficult to set up well it only took 10 minutes after reading the manual, very straight forward to sync it in with what ever chosen FX processor you are using and was hassle free the expression pedals work great to and i found them easy to set up with g major 2 highly recommended if you don't fancy forking out for voodoo labs boards
