Nice surprise

I got this cheap Behringer mic as a backup, but I quickly grew to love it more than the SM58. It just sounds better and for this price, you can only tell how overpriced the Shure legend is. Comes with a hard protective case and clip adapter. You can't go wrong with this one.

Better that a SM58?

My finding is that it sounds brighter that a SM58. I had the opinion that our SM58 are low in the high frequenties.

No regrets

Don't be picky - this is a good budget microphone. Check the frequency response graphic for this mic, results are great if you know what you are doing. I don't do EQ live, I do it in post - if needed. Mic it's silent! silent! it's amazing... we use for professional broadcast (yes, professional!) we needed a microphone for outdoors and FB live applications. For quick projects in podcast studio is also great. Again, if you are a sound engineer and !you know what you are doing", results are pretty much acceptable - I don't need a neuman TLM 103 or Neumann u87 AI in order to record a little project or podcast for a local community.

Reduces Feedback In tight spaces

The first thing I noticed about the Behringer SL85S is that the bass roll off is very much like the SM58. I never used the SM58 myself on stage as I am an AKG fan but Behringerare in a different price league. I have 6 Behringer mics and they all give a good account of themselves. The SL 85S is doinbg just that. The Sure original SM58 and the Beta's cant match the AKG 3800 on stage. The lead singer refused to use them because at volume he had to strain to get his voice out at which levels it would feedback and the AKG 3000 delivered with ease a better register for his voice avoiding feedback. Now I am in a small studio and I play guitar through a bass amp to get a thicker sound. The vocals go through that amp too (Laney) The AKG 3800 has a lower Frequency respose than the Behringer SL85S so feedback at volume is a problem. The SL85S is very good as it allows higher vocals level and cuts through the Guitar and efffects. The on off switch is very quiet. Lets face it, this is a real bargain even if the mic holder is too small. For the price add it to your order if below free shipping limit its a no brainer.

Excellent value for money. Only the clamp does not fit the mic.

I ordered this SL85S after having a disappointing experience with the sound quality of the T.Bone MB45II (very complete (cable and clip included) but very poor sound). The SL85S however is very good. I compared it with my AKG dynamic mics and found very little difference in sound reproduction and build quality. The only thing that is negative is that the clamp/clip is too small to be able to push or slide in the mic.

decent mic but not brilliant

ok this mic is good solid construction and has a pretty decent range and is great if you don't want to spend alot of money on the mic but its really bad for picking up odd sounds from behind the capsule and if you knock the mic stand you get one hell of a boom its still decent for the money you are probably better going for a Behringer XM8500 which is about the same price
