Soulo Mute Adjustable Trumpet Cup Mute

Brilliant mute for big band work. With a bit of experimentation you can get quite a range of sound from this mute. The adjustable cup means you don't have to spend hours filing the corks down to get a tighter cup sound. I bought one to try and emulate the sound of my old H&B cup that's been around the block a few too many times and it gets it bang on. It blends perfectly into a section of H&B and perfectly replicates that glossy vintage sound. The intonation with this mute in is fantastic! That for me was one plus over other cup mutes I've tried. In my experience, a cup mute is an exercise in compromise between not having to fight it in terms of intonation and getting a good sound from it. With this mute you don't have to settle for one or the other, you really can have both!
Emo Trumpet Hush-Hush Mute

This adjustable cup mute is sweet toned and tuneful. It produces a wide range of sounds of varying tone and volume and the soft rim of the cup doesn't mark the bell of the horn. Used without the cup, it has a bold tone as a straight mute. Hard wearing, the colours give it a smart appearance, and make it easy to find on gigs. You could pay a lot more and get no better performance.

I use it both on my trumpet and cornet and the sound is clean and smooth, similar to those orginal recordings. It is very easy to file the corks, so I had no problem in tuning it correctly. I recommend this mute if you are looking for the best acoustic qualities of 1940s sound!

I play Bach Vincent 37 trumpet for 8 years and this product has been another great thing in my life. This is an interesting mute, in that the cup is adjustable - you can slide it closer to the bell to create a different sound. I have found that it is possible to achieve a sound very similar to a stone lined cup mute by bringing the cup very close to the bell. Used without the cup, this mute is a dark toned straight mute. A single mute with a variety of different sounds. This is an interesting mute, in that the cup is adjustable - you can slide it closer to the bell to create a different sound. My friends in the trumpet section of the NJOS are all using them and I liked the bright sound and the fact the tuning is very good. I would recommend it to anyone who does Big Band playing and jazz soloists as it it plays with ease but can take the power as well.
