Boss RC-1 Reviews
It does the job
It's a looper and it works, hasn't got any fancy things that you might expect given the price and there're definitely more inexpensive options out there that deliver pretty much the exact same job.
I kinda regret buying it and I wouldn't advise others to buy it, unless you want a decent, over priced and without true bypass looper.
Correction: I see the price has gone down quite a lot since I bought it. Maybe now it's not so overpriced.
Great Value
I use the boss rc-1 mainly for practicing. very easy to use and a very high quality looper. Great value for money
Best looper for money
It's not anything fancy, but it does exactly what it is supposed to do. It is easy to use and super durable. I really like the circle of light and it is what sets it apart from the ditto looper
simple but fantastic loop
I am quite a minimalistic with effects and modulation, I like things to be simple and not to have 100 of options to study.
This looper pedal is that simple but not bad sound, the quality of reproduction is great and it can be used in stereo.
I highly recommend it for those new into looping or for those who doesn't want a complicated device.
Great first looping pedal
This is a simple and straight forward looping pedal. Good build quality and good sound, easy to use, affordable and a lot of fun to play with.
I wish it had a couple more features, but still I think it is a great way to get into the looping world!
Great pedal for easy looping
I bought this pedal a few years back and I haven't been disappointed once. There's no clicking noise when you turn it on. The sound isn't affected by the pedal recording it.
I use it with multiple pedals in front of it, which works perfectly.
Another great feature of this guitar is that you can plug in 2 instruments (ex. guitar in mono A input and Keyboard in B input) and still go to one amp output while still having both instruments' sounds.
Great pedal!
Good but not many features
Good pedal, build like tank, good sound quality and the only one out there that visualizes the loop duration which is very helpfull if you just start playing.
But it lacks of other features like metronome, banks etc and it has just 1 button, making it tricky to control it on the fly!.
I think if you want a simple looper you dont need to spend that much.
Built like a tank!
Easy to use looper. Love the circular led thing that shows you where in the loop process you are. Not as much features as some of the more expensive models, but for me it does the job perfectly.
Remembers your last loop, after it has been disconnected from power, which was a nice plus.
And it is built like a tank, true Boss quality.
Great looper with the standard Boss quality.
The flashing LED's is a huge plus.
The absolute tool for practicing alone at home or even in a standalone live set.
easy to use
Perfect looper for live play. Easy to use, no hussle and same sound quality as RC-300 Small and easy to use. Just limited to 123 minutes. Great if you record your loops on stage. If you need a memory, you'll need a 'bigger box'.
Super Looper!!!!
Love this pedal. One of my favorite on my board. I use my dual looper for guitar and vocals so use this single one for ukulele mainly. Great sound and very simple operation. Colour coded lights super helpful when playing in poorly lit venues. would highly recommend.
Great for the price
Was looking for an affordable first looper and immediately had my eyes on the RC-1.
It's quite basic and great if you haven't used a looper before.
The only control you have is a level knob wich adjusts the volume of the loop.
The ring display is great to keep track of where you are in the loop, it makes it easier to do more timing based overdubs.
The single footswitch tap-doubletap control is a bit clumsy but usable. I'm definetly planning on getting the boss footswitch for it, that should make operation much smoother.
You can also change the way the pedal works by methods described in the manual. This way you can configure it to better fit your taste.
Overall, for the price, this is a great first-time looper.
Pros:
affordable
simple design
ring display helps keeping track
changeable configuration
Cons:
Single switch makes operation a bit clumsy
drains batteries very quickly
Basic Looper
For those who want a straight forward looper to practice with, this is perfect--no fuss with controls and easy to use.
best of the simple loopers
The boss rc-1 is the best of the simple loopers out there. The end.
Sound: Clean signal without any hum or any other noises.
Features & handling: as simple as it gets,i love the visual display of the loop length-thats the reason i bought it over the ditto.
With only one button you press once to start recording, press one more time to instantly overdub. There is also an option to configure pedal to start the playback on the second tap without overdubbing.
After a while i bought an extra pedal (used for 10e) to stop the loop instantly.
Quality: It is a boss pedal, enough said!
Definitely recommended!
Value for Money
The Boss RC-1 is as easy to master as it gets.A click to record , a click to stop, two clicks to pause , and a long press on to delete your loop. It takes 15 seconds to learn how to use it.
Having said that I bought the particular pedal to work on my phrasing and groove with my bass guitar. A loop pedal will expose all your sound vagueness and technical aspects that a player might lack. I write and rewrite my basslines or my guitar themes which makes it a great tool for studying.Sometimes I write a bassline and let the loop on to grab my acoustic guitar and add themes over it
Soundwise it is very clear the level will give you the ease of listening to your loop to any level you wish to , so that your loop can become a good background to your soloes.
Its biggest advantage and disadvantage is that it does record anything you play and if you do not have a good sense of rythm , learning to loop might be a hard task at the beginning. So, if you do purchase this amazing pedal , don't get frustrated if your playing cannot make it fully usable.
Overall it is a great tool for studying , listening to yourself and even helping you monitor something that your are up to composing.
Great looper that I use for practicing alone at home. One of the features that I love is visual display of the loop length which is extremely helpful, especially if you don't have any previous experience with looper pedal. Also the boss-style silent switch is great, since it doesn't make annoying click and is very easy to engage and disengage. Press once to start recording, press one more time to instantly overdub. There is an option to configure pedal to start the playback on the second tap without overdubbing, which might be useful for some players. The only caveat is that erasing the loop (hold the switch for a second) would initially playback around a second of recorded loop, which makes it not very usable in live situation, but external footswitch totally solves the problem. Looper stores in memory whatever you recorded on it even when turned off, but there is no option to store multiple loops and switch between them like using presets. Build quality is perfect like on any other Boss stompbox, it is very solid and feels like this pedal would perfectly work for ages without failing. There was no AC adapter included and I've never tried running it from batteries - I'm powering the pedal with my power supply and don't have any hum or noise issues. In overall, great and very easy to use looper for home practice, which can be extended for live situations with external footswitch.
Straightforward Quality Looper
I'm pretty low-tech,largely analogue gear, haven't even managed to master a multi-fx(bought a Digitech RP back in the 90's which is still NOS somewhere)and still mourn the days of casette 8 tracks so held off buying a looper for a good while...even the fairly simple looking Digitech units...but then I saw this and decided to take the plunge...yep,I can manage it,using it just to throw down a bass or rhythm backing and working away after that..so that to me means its a success!
I would have no use for it live so can only say it seems very easy to use if you were to gig it.For my use at moderate volumes it sounds v.good esp as I'm simply running it through whatever miscellaneous amp is available...very happy with this purchase which displays all the traditional solidity and functionality of BOSS products..
Simple looper
I bought this pedal as I wanted a cheap looper to use or improv. As it is a Boss pedal, I expected it to be good and it is. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a cheap and simple but yet still reliable looper
Simple, well built pedal!
Only had this product a month but so far it has been outstanding. Nothing complex about it, just a simple, well built pedal! Sound output is incredible and a very clean signal. Would recommend using the boss power cable as it can go through batteries, especially if your using it a lot! Would also recommend using a pedal board or securing the pedal to the floor, depending on the floor surface it can move around a little which can be frustrating. The pedal doesn't have many features which I think is a good thing, it loops and you can adjust the volume output. Not something you need to overomplicate when your using it in a live situation.
