Boss TU-3 Reviews
A wise investment
use: studio and live guitar work
pros:
-very solid build quality
-extra bright mode is great for playing outdoors on a sunny day
-very accurate and consistent
-easy to use and it works with both guitar and bass
-does not impact/colour guitar tone like some cheap tuners
-makes tuning a much faster process
cons:
-cannot tune acoustic guitars which have no pick-ups as there is no built in mic
overall:
Even though there are cheaper tuners available at much lower prices I wholeheartedly recommend you buy this tuner. Cheap tuners tend to be fiddly and unreliable (I have owned many in the past), this is built like a tank and I expect it to last for years.
A wise investment in my opinion.
Great for what it's made
It's a tuner. The job it does is perfect. The tuning is super easy and fast. There are several modes to tune. I use chromatic tuning, which is the best imo. The LED's are super bright and can be easily seen on a sunny day.
Seems it's built like a rock, like all boss pedals.
Verry happy with this product.
Does What It Says On The Tin
This tuner does exactly what it's meant to do, and does it well. It's sturdy metal casing and bright LEDs makes it a no-brainer for any gigging musician. It serves as a great tuner as well as a handy kill-switch to hide that between-song-buzzing.
I don't think I'll be replacing this anytime soon, and if I am it would more than likely be with another!
The boss of all tuners!
I bought the BOSS TU-3 as an upgrade to the TU-2. As I gig regularly, 5 years of constant use took its tole on the old model but it did the trick.
Moving to the new model has been flawless. It tunes better, it gives accurate readings that are better and it has a variety of improved features. The chromatic tuner is what I am used to using but you can tune a violin, banjo, bass, and even a cello using the tuner. It doesn't discriminate against other strings!
The only issue is it would be nice to have another port of another guitar. I use 2 guitars and switching between both can be bothersome but it's not massive problem. I deal with it.
If you need a quick tuner that won't let you down then look no further than the BOSS TU-3. Best tuner out there and its legacy will remain untarnished!
Fantastic pedal
The price seems to be high for a tuner (after all you can buy one for 5 euros) but it is worth it. It makes tuning so easy and is incredibly reliant.
A Great Tuner
Pros:
Very accurate, even on bass.
Two different lighting mode,
Two outputs, one mutes when the tuner is enabled, one don't.
All the modes for tuning guitar, basses b, bb
2 light intensity modes,
DC input and output,
Cons,
None
Forget the rest, get the best
If your budget for a tuner is only ?10, fine, get a ?10 tuner. If you are thinking of spending any more on a tuner, this is the one to get. No question.
I have tried about a dozen or more tuners in the sub-?100 region and none of them come anywhere near to this in terms of speed and accuracy of tuning. Add to that the tank-like build quality, this is an essential piece of equipment.
Look on the stage floor of just about every single professional guitarist and bassist. That little white pedal? Probably a Boss tuner. Enough said.
Excellent tuner
I've tried rackmount tuners and a couple of other cheaper boxes, but there's no escaping this simply rules the roost.
Excellent accuracy and note acquisition, even for notes on a bass too low to be deemed safe for your trousers.Feels durable and safe to give a good whacking with your foot when using the mute function. Doesn't seem to drain battery life either. My only gripe is that for a top of the range tuner, at quite a few pennies, you're buying literally just a box. No power supply, no case. That's just the way with Boss; but it is the only thing that really holds it back.
For the tl;dr...
Pros:
Durable as mad
Plenty of functionality without being confusing
Very accurate
Very fast to acquire notes
Decent battery life
Cons
Nothing but the tuner is supplied
No more noise (tuning at least)
As soon as I opened the box and handled the pedal it had a reassuring weight and feel of quality about it. As for how it works it has to be the fastest reacting tuner ive I ever used. I havn't begun to check out its different features like pain free tuning for GADDAD and the other drop tunings, just to have a fast and accurate tuner with a mute will keep me happy for some time to come.
Reliable & Accurate
A top quality tuner that can be used for any instrument. This is the first and probably last tuner I'll every buy, because it's got everything I could ever need in a tuner. I can use it for guitar and bass and it's got different settings for tuning, although I always use the rotary one, which is the most accurate mechanism of tuning out there. You can also change the pitch and mode. It seems to have everything a tuner could possibly have.
Great pedal
Checked out loads of reviews for different pedal tuners and the BOSS TU-3 kept on coming up as the top scorer. Took the plunge and bought one and found it to be everything that folk had been talking about. Easy to use with the option for silent tuning if that's your bag or for audible tuning if that's your preference. Can't fault it either way, simple no-nonsense display give you a quick visual with a good response time. Enables swift tuning in the noisiest situations
Solid
This product really does speak for itself as on of the foremost industry standard tuning pedals out there. Obviously the big step from the previous model comes in the form of increased LED lights leading to tighter accuracy. The muting of the signal when activated is also handy although this function can be disabled if the user wishes. Extremely durable for extensive gigging purposes and very clear at all times so absolutely squinting required (take this from a man who chooses not to wear glasses despite being short sighted!)
Stay tuned
I have said it before, and ill say it again - your not a musician if you cant keep in tune.
The Boss TU - 3 is by and large the most widely used pedal tuner in the world, and can litterally be seen on most stages.
The build quiality as always with boss, is solid, and its rugged reliability lends itself to your set, giving you the confidence to push your own limits, and still be able to get back into tune quickly for the next song.
If you dont own one you should, if you do you know.
The standard is a standard for a reason!
A Tuner That Everbody Should Own
As far as tuners go, this is the best one that I have ever used. It's extremely reliable and is of typically excellent BOSS quality. Tuning my guitar when playing live is an absolute breeze with this great pedal. Don't have any hesitations about buy this tuner, you won't regret it!
classic
no fuss, precise tuner with the ability to give power to your other pedals out of it. perfect
Stay Tuned
will tune clear without problems. ive only somtimes have a porblem with my lowa string at the seven string. its little and strong cann use it with battery for a long time
Always in tune!
I changed my rig from a full digital setup to an amp and a pedalboard. So i needed a tuner, since I can't use the one in the Axe-Fx anymore.
I mainly play seventrings, so i was unsure, which tuner would be the best for me.
After a bit of comparing I chose this one instead of the Polytune and I don't regret it.
The handling is super easy and I have no issues with tuning the 7th string. As every BOSS pedal, this is one is built to last, so the quality is very good!
I use it on my pedalboard and for homerecording, it does every job!
If you are looking for decent tuner for your pedalboard, I recommend this one!
The standard in tuning
I bought this to replace my Boss TU-2 which I have had for 8 or so years. A psu malfunctioned on shorted out my old tuner. The price difference between this newer tuner and the old dependable was fairly small so I went for this one.
It has a nice feature of adjustable brightness which is very handy for day time shows! With the old TU-2 I had to leave a bag in front of it for shade! I haven't had an opportunity to test this function yet but it seems to be a great idea!
Very dependable construction and quite accurate from what I can tell!
I have tried a few other tuners but always go back to Boss!
Boss Tu-3
Great peddle easy to use and see, would recommend using a power supply with this as batteries drain fast in this peddle
Cracking Pedal
What can I say...Another great pedal from Boss. Bought this to have on stage area at church for the acoustic guitars. They are all very happy and the pedal is easy to read and doesn't mess with the sound of the guitars at all. The build quality is very good and even comes with a battery!
