I bought this bow to play vibraphone and crotales. And it feels and looks great for my use. You could go for a bit smaller bow, but I adjust the angle of the bow so fewer hairs are in contact with the instruments to make a "thiner" sounds when required. Good buy for percussionist, seems solid.
Gewa Bass Bow 3/4 Round German

As a beginner upright bass player (playing with amateur ensembles) I started with a French bow. I wanted to try the German bow to see how I got on with it, without spending a load of money. After a couple of days use I am getting familiar with it. The German bow feels much lighter than the French bow that came with my current (borrowed) Gewa bass. This is probably a cost thing, but for £100 I am happy to now have a German bow as well a good French bow. If I stick with the German bow, and once my playing improves, I can always upgrade. Pros: The bow is the same length as my French bow and the width of the hair is about the same. Price is low enough to try and see how I get on with it Cons: The hair feels a little thinner - like there are fewer hairs, and not the same quality. The...
NS Design Double Bass Bow French Style

As an untrained electric upright bass player I bought this bow made by NS to go with my NS bass. Itâs carbon fibre so itâs nice and light. Iâve never used a wooden bow so Iâve nothing to compare it to. However it works perfectly well so I donât think I need to compare it to anything. It does the job and it does it well so I would recommend it for use with any upright bass.

This bow is well made and plays well. All parts of it are good quality. Cannot fault it and therefore recommend it to all players of 1/2 and 1/4 size double basses. It may be more used as a backup/practice bow for advanced players. But it's certainly a very good bow for beginners and intermediate players.
Dörfler D6 Bass Bow 3/4

I am delighted with the Dorfler D6 ? bass bow. I read two reviews and used the compare function available. Initially I noticed a broken bow hair. The word Brazil was on the bag label so I am uncertain about the wood. The sound is amazing. I have been playing with French bow for over twelve years and have found the quality of sound more like a cello. With this bow the sound has a richer depth and louder volume which will be an advantage for my orchestral playing. The sound is inspiring me with the bow hold and arco/ pizz. changes.
Roth & Junius RJB Carbon Bass Bow 4/4F BK

Good for beginners to intermediate bass players. Bow total length: 72.5 cm Length of the working hair area: 57.5 cm (These are the parameters of my bow! You may have differences) It is of medium weight, not to say that it is too light or too heavy.
Karl Höfner H8/10R BF 3/4 Bass Bow

Choosing a bow is highly subjective and also depends on the instrument you're playing. I decided to buy this bow and give it a try without trying it first. I liked its balance and feel, it improved my sound on the instrument, especially with capotasto, giving me clear and balanced tones that I could not have with my previous carbon bow. The woods seems great (I'm not an expert). The only thing I would recommend is changing the stock bow hair, which wore out quickly.

This is fine for a beginner. It is practical and sensible andreasonably well made. Just accept the fact that one day soon you will want a better Bow than this. A Carbon Fibre bow is probably your next step after this before you spend a small fortune on a quality wooden Bow. I dont regret buying this bow and I keep it as a spare but it doesn't give me joy.
Dörfler D7F Bass Bow 3/4

The stick is just right amount elastic and feels great and alive in the hand. The length of the bow and hair is just perfect in a way that it should suit everybody. The sound is more complex and rich, not so focused. It has clarity but it is not overly bright. It brings the sound from the depth (there is more of everything) and sounds good in all registers on the bass. Consistent from frog to tip, and of course other way around. The frog and screw are still in perfect condition and working great after more than 1 year of use. The width of the hair at the tip of the bow is not great. It is little bit narrow so the hair from tip to frog are not perfectly in line. (Good luthier can make it wider) The bow hair that comes on the bow is very bad quality and are not put well. They are...
