People either love or hate Elixir Strings. For me putting on a crunchy, slinky new set of Elixirs is one of the great pleasures in life -- on my guitar that is. I use Elixir 11s on both my Gibson Les Paul and Fender Strat and both sound amazing with them. I play in a rock covers band 2-4 times a month and practice at least a few minutes every day. I find a set of elixirs will retain their tone for at least a month if not longer and far outlast other string brands I have used. I probably change my strings more than is actually needed. Elixir nanowebs can start looking a little 'hairy' after extensive use and this is usually when I will replace them. First class strings. Bought a Stratocaster about 4 months ago and kept the default factory string for the first 3 months. Decided to switch to Elixir about 1 month ago and ohhhhh.. it's such a wonderful feeling. There's a huge difference between tone sound (Elixir 1, default strings 0), bending & sliding feels a lot more comfortable (Elixir 2, default 0). When I was looking for a new set of strings, Elixir looked a bit pricy compared to alternatives but my friend (a long time player) also recommended these, and I am so glad that I took his advice and decided to buy these. 10/10, if you're thinking "should I or should I not" then let me make the decision easier for you: Yes you should.

Cela fait maintenant quelques mois que je les utilise régulièrement et je ne pourrai plus passer à mes anciens jeux de cordes (ernie ball slinky). Tout y est : ultra agréable au toucher, plus de brillance et de précision, durabilité. Il y a une véritable différence de son audible quand la guitare est branchée. A noter par contre que je ne peux pas tenir six mois avec un jeu si la guitare est régulièrement utilisée, je les garde max 2-3 mois. Ce qui reste largement supérieur et économique par rapport à mes anciens jeux.

This set combines the basses of a light set with the top strings of a medium set. It is intended to beef up highs on Taylor short scale guitars (63 cm, by accentuating the note's fundamental frequency). And it works, by which I mean that the combination of strings and guitar just sounds very good. And on my Taylor 412CE 12-fret the strings seem to last forever. But even this string needs to be replaced one day, so don't overdo it. It will gradually lose sparkle, but it won't sound bad when old, as some other coated strings will do. The coating will fray, like any coated string, but this is negligable. I play fingerstyle, I did not really notice the theoretical extra string tension of the top strings. In this box, each string is in individual paper packaging. In total in the overall packing of 18 strings, without grouping of 6 strings. 3 strings in a winding (and accordingly with a covering), 3 strings without a winding. The first sensations when playing them - is this exactly Elixir? This is a step forward! Strings are felt like metal, there is only a slight feeling that they are stroked. But maybe it's just because you know it's an Elixir :) They are adjusted quickly, the tuning is kept perfectly. They sound bright, I did not hear the difference with Daddario EXL, I did not listen in detail, pulled Elixirs on Gibson SGJ 2014 and was satisfied. I loved these strings from the first use. Absolutely great sound and feeling. They were very stable, not wobbly on the thicker strings. And also I was really happy with the tuning stability. Needed only some very fine tuning rarely. Maybe just as cons, the coverage of the strings is getting shredded. On the place where the strings contact with the pick, the cover is getting destroyed and turns into visible plastic fur. Not really an issue for a playing process, but just looks not that great anymore. But all in all, these are the strings of my choice now, no doubt. Before I was very happy with DR DDT strings, but these ones raised it to a higher level. Totally recommend!

Great strings. I didn't think that NYXL's could be improved, but these are the same thing, with a protective coating, for even longer life. I was getting over double the operating life of the standard XL's when I switched to NYXL's (although I clean my strings after every gig/rehearsal). With the coating these XS's have, I don't need to be quite as meticulous with my string cleaning regime, and they feel & sound great (as you would expect from D'addario). They are expensive, but they do last much longer, so you get your moneys worth.

I was initially looking for Elixirs, which are currently out of stock (thanks Covid...), so I had to find a suitable replacement for all my guitars since I use 10-52/56 on all of them. I have bought 2 sets as test and installed them on my Schecter JL7 FR mk1, since this is my main "go to" guitar I decided to use her as pilot. EVALUATION PROS: - Quite bright initially, like Elixirs, presence and clarity are there. - Tuning stability is good, although this aspect only partially depends on the strings. - The feel to the touch is pretty good after a bit of GHS Fast Fret and a few minutes of playing. - The price. Oddly enough, these are ideal strings if you don’t play very often and the guitar is kept idle for a long time. if you buy such strings and install them. then in a month the sound will be like new. if you buy other good strings. then they just standing on the guitar will lose the brightness of the sound even if they don’t play. and these strings sound like new even after a year. but if you play a lot and constantly. then the spraying deteriorates at the point of contact with the mediator. and a little fluffy.

I have settled on Elixir after trying most big string brands. My hands get quite sweaty, this is the only brand that has the strings last for a reasonable time before corroding. The sound is also really really good, the optiweb is not a lot better than nanoweb, but the difference is enough for me to look for these every time. Now for the gauge, the 10-52 is great if you want that punchy rhythm chug on the power chords but do not want to do a lot of effort to bend. It works well for E standard, D standard or drop C tunings alike. Too bad the local shops don't stock enough of them and elixir is not selling packs of 10.
