Elixir Nanoweb Light Acoustic 3P
Based on 7 reviews
I like these strings. The coating extends the life of the wound strings and they keep their tone far longer than conventional uncoated strings. The overall covering keeps dirt from the string winding - this is what kills the tone. I was a bit apprehensive about the price, but they last 3 - 4 times longer - and there is the occasional 3 for 2 offer. They are nice and easy on the fingers too. Over my fifty years of guitar playing I have tried many other brands of acoustic strings, big name and budget. Some were great, some were awful, but nothing comes close to maintaining a good tone for a long time like Elixirs. I put these strings on all four of my acoustic guitars - I wouldn't have anything else.
Martin Guitars MA540T Authentic Treated
Based on 4 reviews
I was afraid that thick 12 strings would appear too heavy to tune and make some harm to my 25yo korean jackson/charvel 550 dreadnought 10 or 11 (I don't remember). There were nothing to worry about. The strings were tuned perfectly. The guitar just needs some neck bend adjustment (slight clockwise turn of the anker) afterwards. After I re-stringed the Martin's red 12s the guitar new sound became awesome. Long sustain, bright and deep sound, no problem for fingers to give strings enough pressure in hard to press chords or in solo. No too much creak when move fingers along 3-6th. I like the overall result. Martin says it will last long due to their treatment. I hope so.
GHS TCB-L Phosphor Bronze Light
Based on 3 reviews
These are round core strings and they have an extremely nice, soft feel. I'm not sure how the tension compares to a typical hex core 012 set but they FEEL significantly lighter and closer to 011s. The basic sound is more or less like regular GHS phosphor bronze, maybe a tad warmer, but the supple feel gives them a nice "bouncy" quality. They are very responsive even when you play softly. Great for fingerpicking and moderate strumming but probably not the best choice for very heavy strumming or aggressive flatpicking. Highly recommended if you're looking for a supple, responsive set of phosphor bronze 012s that feel more like 011s.
John Pearse 200L Bronze

I got these strings for a wonderful Furch Vintage 2 OM. I didn't want the characteristic tone of phosphor bronze with all it's shimmering harmonic content on this particular guitar so I tried a couple of different 80/20 strings for a more "old school" 60s kind of tone. Phosphor bronze strings actually didn't exist until the 70s so they're not really suitable for anyone looking for a 60s kind of vibe. For the tone I wanted with this guitar 80/20 "bronze" seemed like the way to go. Actually, 80/20 strings aren't really bronze at all, even though they are usually referred to as such. 80/20 strings are in fact brass. I had previously tried the John Pearse 600L phosphor bronze strings on several guitars after reading much praise on various guitar forums. I didn't like...
Yamaha AEP12
Based on 2 reviews
This is my second bulk purchase of these Yamaha strings. I work work with three Yamaha APX guitars (the best live guitars in the world!) and was stringing them with Martin strings for years. I didn't realise that Yamaha made a set designed for the APX. And these are Phosphor Bronze which I wasn't really used to playing with. However, the sund is beautifully rich and warm. The strings liven the bass sound even more when unplugged and these strings are lovely to play live. Very good value and even better if you buy in bulk. Highly recommended.
Cleartone RED Copper Bronze 12-53 Light
Based on 1 reviews
I thought these were worth trying as a a warm-sounding string to put on my Takamine which is more of a clear and articulate finger-picking folk guitar really. They did the job well, never played copper strings before but they do kind of have what I associate with a vintage tone. Also they have lasted an incredibly long time! Must be nearly a year now and I play almost every day. So definitely value for money, especially if your guitar is a bit on the bright sound and you'd like a slightly fuller sound
Elixir 16077 Light Medium Nanoweb
Based on 22 reviews
These strings rock, not perfect for gigs in my opinion... but perfect for the home, and ideal for scenarios ( like damp winters, or sweaty hands ) Elixirs are on my acoustics 99% of the year, and the cost is worth it because they hold-on longer before losing brightness, compared with every other brand I've tried.... If you're unsure about what acoustic strings to buy: - buy these - buy a string-winder ( item no.: 122787 ) You will be able to change your strings slightly slower than with normal strings, at a marginally higher cost. You will only lose out tonally, if you wait too long to change strings ( 2-8 weeks depending upon usage, and cleaning, storage )
Daddario EJ16-10P
Based on 17 reviews
First of all i am by no means an expert on strings .....as i have tried not many besides the EJ16's. Never had to. But that said.......i have never had one broken on me while playing. Even though i bend strings regularly. As it comes to tuning i am a real tuning freak, before playing i tune each string to the exact by using a digital tuner. And re-check regularly during practice. Most of the time the strings stay in tune for 2 days straight, i guess this also depends on the guitar but still a lot has to do with the quality of the strings. I have very acidic sweat....and after every couple of weeks these strings tend to loose its shine. After 4 weeks, the tone yet in tune becomes a little dull, and i have to replace them with new ones. After restringing the strings, it usually take an...
Elixir Nanoweb Light Phosphor Bronze
Based on 104 reviews
I play a lot of live shows and have used Elixir Nanoweb strings for around 2 and a half years. These strings are marginally more expensive than the Martin ones I used previously but they last about 3 times as long. The only negative I can give really is that the brightness you usually get with a brand new set of strings isn't quite the same with these, almost like the Nanoweb coating is deadening that tone slightly. Don't get me wrong, these strings sound GREAT! Obviously the brightness I'm referring to only lasts a day at the most on a non-coated set of strings before they start to deteriorate. I can get 4 or 5 gigs out of a set of these if I need to whereas I used to change after 2 gigs. Totally recommended by me!
Fender 860L PhBronze DuraTone Coated
Based on 7 reviews
Good bye to D'ario and Exir brands, sais I, after trying out these Fender strings. These strings sing so well and so balanced Im speachless! Very articulate and very warm, no mud here on the lower strings and no harsh on the high strings! Love it! Im totally sold! Not sure how long they will last but time will tell. The Exir brand sounds too thin and the D'ario brand sounds too dark (good for Delta Blues maybe, but not for my style). These Fender strings sound just right, very balanced. Did I say they are very balanced? Yes they are! My go to string for my solid spruce top dread with Ovangkol fretbaord and Walnut back and sides! EDIT March 2020; Must say these didnt last very long before they sounded like a tin can. They lost that 3D sound and sounded flat after 3 month. I only play...
