I've bought this banjo after a couple years of playing as a self-taught, and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the purchase. The design is exquisite, it is extremely light and manageable, it maintains tuning very well and it's overall a pleasure to play. I couldn't recommend this model more, I will definitely buy a more elaborate model from Deering, but this is perfect if you are a beginner but do not want to sacrifice the quality of sound.

Good banjo to get started with

Brings a nice sound in a well built instrument. Probably should add an armrest, but nevertheless almost everything what you need to get started. Just add picks.

Havin a Goodtime learnin to pick

Nice build quality, clean sound

Does not come with an armrest so it can be quite uncomfortable to play. One can be purchased and installed with ease.

Change the strings immediately; it will not sound very good nor stay in tune with the stings it comes with.

Great sound

I looked for a good banjo as I?m learning and decided (after reading many other reviews on other sites) that this looked good. Well packaged and arrived almost ready to play. Slight tuning and away I went into bluegrass mode. Great sounds, which get better as the strings wear in.

Very glad I chose this banjo now

Love it!

An unassuming instrument built to high standards, delightful to play and listen to. Not in the least gaudy or flashy, but looks great anyway. I'm really enjoying mine and would certainly recommend it to anyone else.
