Strandberg Boden Bass Prog 5 Brown 2021

It's a wonderful bass with a terrific open sound, even with flatwounds on it. Both slap as well as fingered play sound terrific. You need to be vigilant of the string length though, because you need super extra long for the low B. I am not so happy with the way the ends will have to be clipped at the (missing) head, but I can live with it. Nevertheless, I do not regret having bought it for a second. It is light, and easy to set up. I adjusted the truss a slight bit, as it was a little too low to my taste, but that went without much difficulty, except that the additional Allen key is a little too short to do the job. A normal Allen key works wonderfully though.

First the difference with the NG3 model. The lack of Darkglass preamp build in is noticeable, but by no means a negative. It gives options. The quality of the bass is amazing, sound wise. The maple nech do feel like a toy from a ceral box but plays really smooth tho. It is quite slim and comfortable. Really easy to get used to. The knobs and the tuning keys are really soldid and hold their position quite nice. The color was a bit concerning untill I saw it live. It is trully amazing, expecially on stage light. Overall this is one awesome axe that is pleasure to play or look.

Where do I start. If I'm honest I found this bass to be a little underwhelming. (Soundwise). More on that later. With the strap on I give this bass 3/10 for ergonomics. This is because I think the placement of the rear strap pin is very poorly placed. In its native position it makes the bass tilt into your body so much that it's uncomfortable to finger the fretboard. Very annoying. This can be rectified by added another strap pin closer to the bottom of the bass (near the jack input) which has the perfect effect of making the instrument sit flatter against your body (similar to the angle you get when sitting). With this modification I now give it 10/10 for ergonomics. The bass is ridiculously light and very compact!! This is probably my most favorite thing about this product. I love how...

Both pickups sound great and it's really easy to dial in a whole range of bass tones with the onboard EQ. I absolutely love the Mid frequency controls, that allow you to chose a specific mid range frequency and boost it or cut it. With that manage to dial in everything from vintage P-bass like tone through a modern hum bucker sound to a jazz bass single coil type sound using only the bridge pickup. The neck is comfortable and fast. It took me a very short time to adjust to the fanned frets, even though I never played a bass with them before. It just felt very natural from the start. The B-string sounds clear and well defined. It's the best sounding B string of all of my basses. At just around 3,5kg it is the lightest of all of my basses and by far the most comfortable to play. Its...

Feels great. I'm used to multiscale from my 7 string guitar but on the first frets of the A5, especially of the D and G strings it's a bit much. I'll often avoid playing down there because it just feels so weird. That might be a me problem though. However the rest of the bass is fantastic. Excellent access up to the 24th fret and the EQ style tone knobs work great for crafting tones and making small changes on the fly. As a guitar player at heart the slightly closer string spacing is welcome here. Delighted with my purchase

Even if it's a "Workshop" bass, for the price close to a "Premium" line Ibanez... the assembly quality is simply - not quite good. Maybe, it's a quality assurance issue at the assembly plant itself... Maybe, the best produced bass guitars goes elsewhere... I don't really know, but for this price tag certain expectations must be met! I'm telling this from the perspective of a hardcore "Ibanez" fan - I have 8 bass guitars at home, a "Prestige" and several "Premiums" among them...
