worth the investment

Well worth the extra money - a more musical tone that Rotosounds, and smoother feel. Wonderful strings.

My favorite

My favorite strings. A bit slicky at the beginning due to the coat, but they have a great sound and they last long

Went dead REALLY fast.

These strings sounded bright and snappy new, but after about two live performances with moderate pick use they went REALLY dead, after being about two months old or slightly less. After them my 8 months old hex-core strings sounded very bright.

So either handle with care, or ignore if you play with a pick.

DR Hi Beams

Best strings out there. Great sound, nice and bright and last for ages. Been using these for years now. Quite pricy but outlast other strings I've tried by a ling way. Well worth it.

Bass with a long scale? No problem!

I have a 35" Modulus graphite bass with the problem that many strings are not long enough to fit properly, but DR Hi Beams work perfectly. Killer tone rounds the package nicely, and I haven't looked back ever since.

Versatile.

From funk to walking jazz, to harmonics, to simple, grounding basslines, I'm able to get a broad range of sounds out of these strings. They're a little thin at the thin end (2x MEC dynamic correction pickups) but this can be remedied by playing closer to the middle of the string length.

They've bedded in well, and now have quite a sophisticated tone, (eq flat) with mids when required, clarity, good sustain and nice overtones, yet without too much aggression.

They still feel smooth to play, and aren't shredding my fingertips, or tiring my hands.

My only niggle is that the low B string is a little loose - at 34" scale - and I wouldn't mind trying the same set with a 115 or 120 B string.

Expensive, but brilliant and long lasting sound

If you are looking for a rather bright sounding string set this article might be an interesting choice for you. This string set is well balanced from b-string to g-string and has a rather soft feel to it. As the b-string is only .125 it can be played with less effort compared to thicker, stiffer strings. The price tag for this string set is rather hefty but DR strings tend to last long and deliever a constant sound over months. If you are looking for a rahter traditional, mellow sound then you might want to look somehwere else. But paired with a Stingray bass you might find the "zing" in your sound you were alway looking for!

Good long lasting strings

Great strings, supple feel & very long lasting (they've been on the bass over a year & still sound great).

Good strings, but pricey

Very nice strings, top marks for sound quality. They do last slightly longer than regular strings, but I still found them dead after a few weeks playing.
