This is my first "higher end" snare drum, so the jump for me was massive from what I was playing before. I can get a really nice warm sound out of this snare drum, and when tuned high, the high pitched crack sounds awesome while still retaining a somewhat "rounded" sound. The finish is also really beautiful! I also appreciate the fact that it comes with a damped hoop, since the drum has quite a lot of overtones. Overall, loving my experience with this snare drum!

Everything I hoped it would be and more. A perfect blend of all classic ludwig snare sounds in one drum. Responds very well to all tuning ranges but sings in the medium-high range. The overall tone is drier, has more body and is more controlled than a black beauty or supraphonic but retains the famous ludwig crack, ring, presence and punch. I brought it to a live recording session in an empty 800 capacity venue and it filled the entire room. The whole crew asked what snare it was because it recorded so well. The only downside to this snare is the price-tag, but you get what you pay for.

This is one of the most versatile snare that I had. You can use it in almost any style of music. I little bit expensive but worth it!
