Best FM Synth out there

Digitone is a hell of a synth. Specially if you love FM Synth, this one gives pleasure to use as it's a much friendlier UI compared to a DX7, DX100, etc etc.

Sound wise, it's a bomb, it's warm, metalic, and feels big in any mix. I use it daily on my productions as it's super versatile machine from percs to pads, to drones all sound very good and it's not a nightmare to program it. 100% Recommend it.

Guaranteed Elektron-quality. Very versatile synth, works well as a drum machine also.

Fun product

I love Everything about it but I also expected a few extras that it doesn't have.

Sounds digital but the amount of sounds you can create with this is amazing. You can layer the 4 tracks and with the Elektron sequencing capabilities you can make some incredible patterns. You can easily get lost in this machine.

The only thing is that there is no arpeggiator on the midi tracks, that's the only downside that I encountered.

You won't regret this machine

I'm super happy with my Digitone. Besides a few little bugs it is one of the the best Elektron box.

Amazing sound

Definitely the most capable hardware based FM-synthesizer/sequencer out there. Extremely fun to use, and relatively easy to learn (if you are familiar with the Elektron workflow), and it sounds great - deep bass, shimmery treble and warm/punchy mid.

The Elektron sequencer with all its features adds another dimension to the creative flow. It can also halt your creativity at times, depending on your mindset or preferred workflow.

A song mode would have been a big plus.

I also enjoy sequencing it with Ableton Live for really long sequences or whole songs.

The modulation macro's (for velocity, mod wheel and breath control) are amazing, especially when controlled by a midi-controller - adds serious performance capabilities.

Overall Im very happy with this synthesizer and I happily recommend it if you are looking for a FM-synth on stereoids.

In 10 years, the most amazing synth i ever tried

Very caracteristic sound. for who knows FM synths, amazing machine.

Great job at elektron for doing something like this.

nothing new to say, build quality is great... requires time to adapt to the workflow when u use it as standalone...

for me, best and funny synth i ever worked with. can really randomize your ideas.

Elektron FM

i bought it to pair with my digitakt, and it's a perfect match. the machine in itself is pretty complex and it being an FM synth takes a bit to fully undestand, but if you're eyeballing one you probably know what you're getting yourself into. same high quality elektron package and workflow whit an FM sound.(it also has two filters to tame the sound when it gets too abrasive, but don't expect bread and butter synth sounds from it without investing a fair amount of time.) For experimental, far out sounds is a beast though.

Good for almost everything

After spending some time to understand inner architecture of this device, you can make it to work in various ways.

When I play it standalone, it can make comlete composition, thanks to wide range of drum patches, that are already stored in factory sounds.

When I use Digitone with other gear, it covers pad, lead and fx sounds functions.

Built quality is great!

Its a good synth but it gave me sequencer nightmares. It can be a very powerfull sound design tool, its just not for me.

best synth from elektron

This is possibly the best, most deep, elektron device made so far for pure sound-design, synth-patching. Just use unison and spare those two or three voices to make anything shine so bright. Please be patient with it and patch patch patch - it will open your ears for totally new sounds You never ever heard. Digitone is constantly being updated with lots of new creative features. Arp is a killer and is so advanced compared to any other elektron device. New update made it possible (finally) to do 128+ steps sequences (just use scale1/2 and set master length to 128).

Not sure what to say about it. It was not my most inspired choice. The device has some nice features on it, but it's not for me. I suppose on the price range its up to the money. Make your research before you buy it, or you will end up selling it like i did.

Musical Therapist

This thing is amazing! I wanted to have something small, inexpensive and independent from the computer for sound design, sequencing and quick sketches. Digitone allows me all of this and more.

I will start with cons but all of them are also pros, because limits

drive to simplicity and clarity.

Cons:

- Only 2 LFOs, sometimes I want more

- Doesn't work on batteries

- Limited flexibility in waveforms of operators

- Price is a bit high

Pros:

- Build quality

- Ability to play without external keyboard

- Overbridge - hoping for a VST, it will be a killer feature

- Limits but a lot of flexibility

- Clever UI design and controls

- Powerful Elektron sequencer which I was underestimating at first

- Great sound and quite good internal effects

- It can be used as a sound card with Overbridge. Also has 2 additional external inputs which is useful in many ways

- Standard MIDI In/Out - I've been using it to sequence Waldorf Blofeld

The Digitone is helping me with learning sound design and so on, but the greatest thing about it is also pretty good toy. It doesn't require much to get started but offers a lot.

Great unit - big learning curve

The unit itself is great. Some of the sounds that are possible are unique. I think recreating some of those sounds from scratch are very difficult, but if you're up to the challenge then go for it.

It's different from any synth I have used. Very easy to make something interesting. Also, to be able to hook this up to my other gear and send midi is amazing.

Still learning a lot, and it is overwhelming. But definitely something for the more adventurous musician.

Use: Digitone is pretty much embedded in the rest of my studio equipment and I'm very pleased.

Clarity: What to say, in a word, a super thing, intuitively, quality, I have no word of indignation.

Digital Powerhous

This one of the most versatile synth I have been working with. Great FM sounds with the easy configuration of a subtractive synth. And elektron support team is one of the best and fastest I've encountered. Great piece of gear. Be ready though that it is a steap learning curve. It is very revarding, but be ready to read and learn before starting it up.

Handling is easy if you alread know what you are doing, but if you are new to elektron products you may need some time to understand the layout and features.

endless depth

An extraordinary machine for creative experimenters. A brand new approach on FM, simple and usable in the usual Elektron way. The build quality is also very good. My only concern is the missing brightness and slightly limited dynamics of the sound.
