Elixir Optiweb 19077 Light/Heavy 5-stars Reviews
I have sweaty hands and my strings tend to rust fast. This really solves the problem. Tones could be better but it's true what they say: they cost double, but last triple than other brands.
Amazing lifetime and tone retention.
I have tried many strings from every big manufacturer (coated/uncoated/treated) and none of them has come even close.
My hands are quite sweaty and strings always started to rust and lose their tone after few days. Elixir strings on the other hand last for months without corrosion and with tone virtually unchanged.
The only reason to change strings with elixirs is inability to set intonation properly after few months of usage.
Best strings
I have settled on Elixir after trying most big string brands.
My hands get quite sweaty, this is the only brand that has the strings last for a reasonable time before corroding.
The sound is also really really good, the optiweb is not a lot better than nanoweb, but the difference is enough for me to look for these every time.
Now for the gauge, the 10-52 is great if you want that punchy rhythm chug on the power chords but do not want to do a lot of effort to bend. It works well for E standard, D standard or drop C tunings alike. Too bad the local shops don't stock enough of them and elixir is not selling packs of 10.
One of best!
I've been searching string market for ages in order to find my favourite set of strings but it wasn't as easy as I was expecting to be.
After trying EB, SIT, D'addario, Dunlop, Dean Markley, and Roto sound I have finnaly bought set of elixirs strings.
Two words: Game changer!
My hands tend to sweat a lot when I play which normally ruins strings within 2 weeks. Elixirs easly holdup for 6/7 weeks without loosing fresh feel and sound, just incredible stuff.
Geat Tone and long lasting
the strings feel great, they last me about 3 and a half weeks and they sound amazing, its my new choice for strings
Best strings for sweaty hands!
These Elixirs are the only guitar strings I trust.
May be pricey but worth it in the long run as it is made to last and preserves it's sound quality 3-5x more than normal strings (as advertised). Especially recommended for people with sweaty, acidic hands. The new Optiwebs are very cool as it still has the clarity and "twang" of normal uncoated strings but still feel nice and "slick".
This particular Light/Heavy hybrid is awesome if you want more "Oomph" on your lower strings. Works super well with Hard Rock/Metal tones!
Might be the best strings I?ve ever used.
I recently put them on and I was actually quite stunned. They really have this sparkle and crisp that uncoated strings have. I`ve tried Cleartones and other Elixir`s, but they are a bit dull sounding and lack this brightness. The Optiwebs really shine plus they feel nice under my fingers. I can`t really put my finger on what is different, but i feel there is something. Maybe just the price makes me believe there is something special, you know - kind of placebo.
So is it worth paying twice as much as regular sting set, are they twice as good - mmmmmaybe, they are great, not sure if twice as great. But they probably last significantly longer.
Great strings
Had them on an Ibanez RG560 for around two months in standard D tuning. I am a casual player, I usually fiddle with that guitar 30-60min / day. Compared to the polywebs, these strings don't seem to be affected so easily by aggressive picking, the others would get their coating sort of peeled from them after a while.
These are coated strings, so don't expect them to sound really sparkly like regular strings do, but their resistance really make up for it.
I think they're the best strings to have on your guitar if you're practicing or jam daily, they don't get sticky, rusty and they don't get dull as crap after a week or two. So far I did not have any intonation or tuning stability problems with any Elixir strings (except the baritone set, but I won't get into it).
Long term relationship with my fretboard
Really good quality from Elixir and they last very long time.I am using them in my Gibson SG.
