The Best

Simply the best strings for bass ... a bit pricy but worth it after you find out they last for such a long time sounding amazing!!

A true friend

Exquisite quality and durability: these strings will last on your bass about....two years!!!

They will keep their beautiful high frequencies for so long, sounding fresh after a long while. Imagine the huge savings Elixir offers: if you are supposed to change your non-Elixir strings once in two months, that would lead to a 12/1 ratio :)

Meaning: in two years you will have to buy 12 sets of regular strings instead of one!

Elixir 14777 Stainless Steel 5 Light

I play from three to five hours live on stage and without those nanoweb covering strings of elixir I had to change my bass strings every week. Yes, high price for one set but you still save money instead of buying 3 average/good set in a month. Stainless ones seems to last a little bit longer than nikel ones

Best Bass Strings

Elixir Stainless Steel strings are in my opinion the best bass strings for all types of music, but in rock and metal they rule. I use them on long scale basses. They are durable, little brighter than nickle wound and have that "new like tone" for long time and it's very smooth to play.

Great product and i give it 5 stars in every category and i can only recommend them to every bass player, especially to players who don't change string often!

A great sounding, long lasting set of strings!

I have been a fan of Elixir strings for about 4 years now. They are easy to play and sound very well balanced. Elixirs coated nickelwounds sound "set in" right out of the box and keep that tone for months. The only thing these strings could not pull off was a bright, punchy slapping-tone. And this is where this set of stainless steel Elixirs can really shine!

I put them on my 5-string fretless first and was amazed with the brilliance and vocal qualities of these strings. The notes sounded clearer but were lacking just a bit of "body" in comparison to the nickel-version of this coated string. You could hear the subtle differences on long, sustaining notes and especially harmonics. I personally prefer the nickelwounds on my fretless.

A few days later I put the stainless steel Elixirs on on my 1995 Warwick Fortress and they turned out to be a perfect match: Clear lows, growling mids, snappy attack and a brilliant top-end. I could not put this bass down for hours...

I have been using these strings for a few months now and their sound has not changed yet and the coating is still like new. They are more expensive initially but make up for it on the long run. I only need to change these maybe twice a year and I play about an hour daily. Highly recommended!
