Versatile quality at a good price

This is actually a really good compressor, especially at this price level. I use it on my drum bus and it allows me to shape the vibe. The release knob on mine is kind of stiff and doesn't turn as smoothly as it should, but does the job.

Received two with problems

The first one had 1db unbalance to the left when the warm button wasn't active.

The replacement has missing letter parts from the words, Attack and Release.

I have the XFILTER 500 that I bought in another company, and no problems.

Really disappointment with Elysia.

Useful tool

Nothing incredibly sounding, it does what it promises. Really useful in terms of funcionalities and features (negative ratios, scf, gain reduction limit) and elegant in its modern suit. Built like tank, nice feeling under the fingers and nice leds. Stepped pots so easy to recall and overall good value for money. I use it especially on drum rooms, toms, percussions. Many say it works incredibly well on bass but I normally go for something less transparent (1176 / API others). Same for 2-bus, where I like to have something tougher and less transparent but when it's a matter of a soft limiting, that's a great tool though.

natural and modern sounding stereo comp

IMO it's a clearer and natural sounding version of dbx 160a with modern functions like wet/dry, gain reduction limiting stuff. great gear to have.

Best compressor in its price range!

One of my favorite 500 series units is the Elysia Xpressor 500. It's a real swiss army knife: it can be transparent as air or it can be used to really smash the signal with a lot of color. The build quality is awesome and the unit looks really nice. Knobs feel sturdy and are easy to handle. Also the amount of controllable features is perfect for the size of a double wide 500 series unit. Even my stubby fingers fit perfectly to dial the knobs. Elysia has come up with nice and innovative ideas like the negative ratio that can cause really strange results if wanted. I also like the "warm mode" that makes the end result softer without sounding muddy. If you are looking for a compressor that sounds professional and is able to do lot of different dynamic sculpting then the Xpressor is yout top choice!

Fantastic compressor

Given it full marks. Price great, features include elements not found on most compressor. Sound is amazing. Really easy to twist the knobs to get what you want
