Eminence CV-75 - Celestion V30 Killer

I bought these speakers because I was aware that Eminence had yet again attempted to clone or better the Celestion V30. This time from what I have read the CV-75 was specifically designed to sound like 80's V30's. For my requirements, this would be the perfect speaker. In other words a classic sounding speaker famous for heavy metal and heavy rock music. Did the Eminence deliver then?

Yes! And more!

This speaker is first of all louder than hell. I had it side by side other speakers and it was very dominant, then this is down to the Sensitivity which is 102.2 dB. The speakers I was comparing it to were in and around 96db - 98db which is perfectly respectable. The eminence eat those other speakers for breakfast.

The overal tone is like the Celestion V30, only it sounds a little bit less gritty, or less fizzy which for me and my set up is great. They have a massive chunky sound to them. Very muscular indeed. There is enough low end to satisfy anyone needing super tight bass, no flubby nonsense as you would expect. These speakers (I bought 2) really suit my needs. I can't guarantee that they would satisfy other peoples need because different speakers can really make an album either sound superb or else really below par. I think these eminence CV-75's would probably make a lot of people amps or preamps sing, and also anyone with an FX modeler.

I cannot recommend them enough really and I am really glad I bought them. In fact I'm going to buy another 2. I placed these in a 2x12" cab and basically they turned the cab into a behemoth. The quality and sound of the speaker is very apparent.

The CV-75 has been out a year now and for some reason it doesn't seem to be getting talked about that much. This is strange because people are missing out with this speaker. It wipes the floor with Celestion V30 (a speaker I have used in 4x12"s a lot) and it's a really high quality guitar driver produced to a great standard of which you would expect from Eminence. Grab a set of these for your cab particularly is you want to create classic heavy guitar sounds, you wont regret it. They work well mixed also just like the V30 works well with the G12T 75. Some great combinations could be had using the CV-75. There are a few great comprehensive video reviews on the internet about these speakers. I would advise checking these out for anyone interested in this speaker. They include the wide range of sounds this speaker is capable off.

Really glad I discovered these speakers!!
