Great Flexible Tremolo Pedal with MIDI Option
I can't say enough good things about this Empress Tremolo2 pedal. There are many great Tremolo pedals out there but I was particularly looking for one which would be most flexible in a recording environment.
Sometimes while recording, one may want a Tremolo to synchronise perfectly with a track. With many analog pedals of this type - this is usually not possible. However - the Empress has an option to add a 'midi box'. It costs less than 50 Euro. plugs into the control port - and enables the tremolo2 to be put under the complete control of your DAW (Actually, up to 4 pedals can be connected to the midi box at once if you wanted). This was the main selling point for me in choosing this particular pedal over others. It was very liberating to be able to draw your tremolo waveforms on the screen, and have a repeatable performance, even over many takes. The tremolo can also work as a normal non-midi pedal and the Empress website has some good tutorial videos on all its functions.
There are 2 switches for 3 waveforms types, modes and many different rhythm and ratio/rate options and knobs, depth and so forth, just as in other high quality pedals of this nature. The sound is great and as good as any other - but it was the potential MIDI option that gave it the edge for me over other analog tremolos. Highly recommended.
