Beautiful looking guitar with unacceptable frets finish
Really beautiful guitar with great sound as for its price range. Unfortunately, the guitar that I bought has been made in an unacceptable way when it comes to the frets and in my opinion should not be sold in such condition. The frets finish is so sharp that you could literally cut your fingers. I have purchased several guitars in my life and never met such tragic frets condition. I hope the other firebirds from Epiphone don't have this problem.
The best Epiphone Firebird I've had!
So I'm going to start this by saying I've owned two other Epiphone Firebirds.. a VII model and a studio model. They do not come close to this one!
The biggest reasons are these two, the build and the sound. Firstly with the build, this guitar is perfectly made and balanced. With the VII model, it was headstock heavy, unless you were holding the neck, the guitar would tilt and almost be touching the floor. It was even worse as the strap button was on the side, and if you didn't have a strap lock, the guitar would fall far too easily. The studio model was way too heavy and also had balance issues.
This Firebird has none of that. It's perfectly balance and not top heavy, the strap button is on the back of the guitar helping these issues greatly!
Secondly, the sound. The sound is incredible. The Probucker FB720 mini humbuckers in this sing beautifully. There's not been a style of music I haven't been able to play with these. They're my new favourite pick-ups. Far superior to the mini humbuckers on my VII model, and I now hate the humbuckers in my studio one.
The finish is beautiful, that classic vintage sunburst. The guitar was near perfect out of the box, just the usual few set up pieces to do. This guitar feels and plays like a guitar three or four times this value, and you would not be disappointed with it!
