Ernie Ball 2223 4-stars Reviews
Good
Not much to say, good strings for the price. I use them on my Strat and my Gretsch hollowbody and they sound great.
why there is so much fuss about Ernie Ball?
Heard a lot of positive feedback about Ernie Ball, but never tried them before and now can say they are pretty average with all regards
Very nice feeling
These strings feel amazing and tone is reaally good, but:
When I strung up my guitar it gave a buzzing sound, I think this is because I did something wrong because if I move the string from underneath the stringtree the buzz is gone. so I guess it's my own dumb mistake
But these are still amazing strings and sound like heaven
Nice ones
Used them on my Chapman ML3. Sounds nice!
If you don't want to complicate yourself...
These are the perfect strings if you just want the standard set, they don't have any corrosion protection but the tone is very good and I simply can't complain for the price. This set in particular would fit any fender Strat or Tele, as they were designed for this string caliber (0.09).
I've had this argument with many of my friends about getting a bit darker with time, and it's obvious that after one month the sound will degrade a bit, but I prefer to change my strings 3 times for less than 20 euros, and always have new strings, than to buy a single package of Elixir for the same price, that although they will last longer, they can't compete with a regular change of strings. If you complain that these strings are not so slippery as the protected ones, try with some conditioning oil for frets like 'Fast Fret', I use it every time I leave my guitar back in the case, it protects my strings and feel as nice as any other brand.
Overall, I've been using them for years and I've tried other brands too, but I would say that for this price range they're unbeatable, I'd recommend them to any musician from entry level to professional.
Great sound and playing, not durability
I recently changed to using d'Addarios of the same gauge, only because I end up spending less money because they last longer! Don't get me wrong, I love these strings. I think they play better (especially when it comes to bending) than the strings I use now, but I feel like they break too quickly.
I can't recommend enough to at least try these strings out. Maybe you will find they last longer for you than for me.
Cool Strings!
This gauge is a classic and if you are a beginner at blues, this will help on super bend actions.
Very good price quality relation. Used to buy other brands that last longer but cost 3 times more. This are my new strings.
Good sanding bright strings.
Love those strings and filling always inspire using them!
Great Strings! Good Sound !
Had been using it since 3 months. Still as a good practice we should keep our guitar in a place free from humidity to avoid corrosion and all.
Decent strings.
I have been a fan of Super Slinky strings for a few years and was always using only these. After not using them for some time (using coated strings instead) I have decided to give them a go.
They are a good value for money but there is no magic for me anymore. They don't last as long or sound as nice as the coated strings but yeah they are much cheaper.
Good to have in the gig bag but would not use as my main strings
Great as thin strings go.
Bought these to try out on a new Telecaster, and I didn't realise it at the time, but the thin strings were what I didn't like about the feel of the guitar.
That said, it's just a personal choice now regarding thick vs thin strings, and these still sounded great and lasted for a long time before I snapped more than the G (which I snap a lot on that guitar).
There's a reason Ernie Ball Slinkies are the default string for most people, and it's that they make good sounding strings that feel slinky.
Great strings
Using it on an Ibanez SAS 32 and it works great. Nice harmonics and neat resonance.
The packing also is well done.
Still a little too slinky
I changed strings from the Ernie Ball 2225 to these because the others were to light and tended to snap. Well these strings (Ernie Ball 2223) did last longer and sounded great with a great feel, very light, easy to bend, great clean crisp sound. But they still snap for me, especially the E string. In there defence I do sweat a lot on stage which does damage the strings.
Great strings
My guitars used to wear D'Addario or Rotosound, these are my first Slinkies.
For my HB TE-52 I think I keep these, as they are smooth, fast and soft.
For my Vintage V100 I think I will also try out some Slinky 10s for my next restringing.
Love
I really loved this strings when I bought them they were great for the price and were worth every penny!! Easy to put on and change and they were long lasting I buy these strings every time I need some and these are perfect
Ernie Ball Strings - What can you say?
Simply put, these are my strings of choice. Durable, bright and long lasting.
Over the years I've been recommended all manner of strings and always go back to the Ernie Ball Super Slinky's.
As with all strings, use a string cleaner after using them (especially after playing live) and they'll last a damn sight longer and keep their brightness.
Cheap but cool
These strings with e1 9 suits to my playing. Easy to tune and keeps quite well the tuning. Perhaps these very affordable strings don't last as long as three times more expensive ones. Then there is the cobalt series to try.
A classic
I've tried a few different sets of strings for my strat, but in the end, I always return to the .009 super slinky. They don't really have a remarkable sound, they just sound like a guitar should do. I mostly use them for clean to slightly distorted parts in alternative, indie, blues and funk. They do a good job and stay in tune for a long time. Not much sustain, but considering how thin they are, that's no surprise.
Playing an average of one hour per day, I change them about every 4-5 weeks, which is enough for me before they feel worn-out.
Good quality
My first string teared just one day after my guitar arrived...So I was very happy that i ordered it together with my guitar. The strings have a very nice sound and the quality is also good for this price.
