Funky

Would buy again. My favourite strings ever.

Flat wound metal strings are like a fusion of the warm and smooth tone of a black nylon string and the metal percussive power of metal strings. I personally don't like the overtones and extra noises of the round wounds and the problem is fixed using Flat wounds. Ideal for music styles like Funk, Disco, Jazz, and that doesn't mean you can not play some rock. You can use these strings on a fretted or on a fretless bass. In fact, most of the Funk/Disco music back in the 70's was recorded using Flat wounds. Flat wounds eliminate excess noise and they allow more versatility such as sliding and bending. And they are still metallic so the percussive power is still there, from slap bass to smooth jazz.

Flatwound strings with roundwound sound

Flatwound feel with roundwound sound. In general, the feel of these strings is not 100% flatwound, a bit rougher than other brand that I used. Sound, on the other hand, is much brighter than normal FW strings.

Nice flat feeling

Not as smooth as some Other flatwound but you get a nice bright sound without clankyness or finger sound. The feeling of flats without a sound too dull.

I have them for some month, still fresh.

No trouble on installing them either.

I use them on a Thunderbird 60’s, it’s a great match. I could not go back to the eb super slinky round i was using before.

Almost roundwound tone with flatwound feel

I use these cobalt flatwounds on my Epiphone thunderbird vintage pro bass. They have a classic flatwound feel but the tone is much brighter than other flatwounds I have used. I was expecting them to mellow into sounding more like traditional flatwounds but after many months they still sound fresh and I can still get a bright tone.
